After UCONN beats Syracuse (and they will) UCONN will have to play 5th seed Iowa. UCONN has the freshman sensation Paige Bueckers and Iowa has freshman phenom who leads in basically all categories, Caitlin Clark. Clark just scored 35 and destroyed the 4th seeded team.
The media has embraced Buckets as the once in a generation talent but many think Clark is as good or better. They are both are dominant players and fun to watch.
The head to head match will be must see tv. You will see on the dime assists, some from behind the back and the accurate 3 PT shooting not seen in the mens game. Both are highly intelligent players and very athletic.
The most exciting NCAA tournament game will occur and its in the women's division!

LOL. Thanks for the good laugh. I thought the women's tournament had gone bye bye. Let me ask a question ... The women have a smaller basketball but why is the rim not proportionately smaller. Their terrible shooting percentage is inflated. Thanks again for the good laugh. -

Here come the dogs, good boys!

The game the women play shouldn't be considered "basketball" until either they use a regulation men's ball, or switch to using rims that are 2X the diameter of the women's ball. The disparity in shooting difficulty is ridiculous.
-
Also a bit crazy that both are white. Would the hype be the same if they were women of color? IDK.

Three point shooting is nearly identical. Also, the women use a ball that is about 0.3" smaller in diameter (1" smaller circumference). Smaller ball results in greater

You're exactly correct. There was never ANY hype when Michael Jordan went head-to-head against Isaiah Thomas, Wilt Chamberlain challenged Bill Russell, or Julius Irving took on Magic Johnson. Absolutely no hype. -

Yeah, because all those match-ups happened in college ball. Oh wait... no, they didn't. -

No, but diversity is good right?
But they do play fun very smart basketball. Lets face it, the most boring shot in basketball is a 6'6" or taller guy dunking the ball. No skill there. -
Probably would be double. Major networks would be doing stories about their upbringing and telling us what great students they are.

Girls basketball = unwatchable

OP sounds like an ESPN writer, trying to hype up the women's tourney. The favorites absolutely dominate because of the lack of competitiveness in the sport of women's basketball. I give them credit, but Look at UConns record with their great teams, ridiculous due to poor competition. Then ESPN will say they're the greatest team in sports history or some laughable BS. I'm all for equality, but everything should be put into perspective.

Thanks for the heads up. Will try to tune in.

Women used to play with a size 7 ball in FIBA tournaments. -

Tell that to 11 seed BYU, 12 seed Belmont and 13 seed Wright State who all JUST YESTERDAY won tournament games against higher seeds. That Wright State game was a monster upset. So maybe you should try paying attention before you talk.
As for Paige versus Caitlin, hope the OP didnt just jinx it by just assuming Syracuse will lose. But of course I'll be watching if it happens. With Nika Muhl injured I wonder who would get the assignment to try to stop Clark. Kentucky put a body on her the entire length of the court and she still scored 35. Covering her is simply not an effective way of stopping her from scoring. -

The women's game is not the same game of 20 years ago. Its faster and has some very skillful assists. Also, who cares if the ball is slightly smaller. Hey if it made the mens game more interesting and increased shots and reduced dunks, I'm all for it being reduced too.
It will be a match of Titans. Paige has a much more talented supporting cast, so if Iowa wins, Clark asserts herself as best. Clark is somewhat an underdog by media coverage, so normally that might put pressure on Paige, but Paige is never negatively affected by pressure.
Some posters here seem negative toward the ladies. Maybe they have experienced a bit too much rejection in the romance department. -

OP, the only people who give a crap about women’s basketball are the players and their family members or friends or possibly close associates at the school. Nobody gives a $hit. It’s not misogynistic to say it, and it need not be offensive. It’s the same way with distance running. Only skinny ectomorphs care about our sport. Otherwise, it’s unwatchable beyond the track events. I’m not going to cry foul or say how marginalized we are or demand higher pay. It is a fact and it is what it is. -

You are wrong about this game. It will generate much interest. Wait and see. -
UCONN will not walk over this team. I'm predicting a nail biter.
By the way, I never watch much NCAAW basketball until this year. Those ladies can play.
