On October 30 I will be running my first marathon. I have completed numerous 20 mile runs in preparation. My question is how should I schedule my long runs in this final month.
On October 30 I will be running my first marathon. I have completed numerous 20 mile runs in preparation. My question is how should I schedule my long runs in this final month.
1 week to go = 2hrs.
2 weeks to go = normal long run. (20+ Miles)
3 weeks to go = 2hrs.
4 weeks to go = normal long run.
This is my advice.
This weekend hit 23 miles. Next weekend The following weekend run 21-22 miles, weekend of the 15th hit 20 and then 13 the week before. Plan to run at 45-60 seconds slower than planned race pace.
I'm doing my marathon on 10/30 as well. I'm going 20 tomorrow w/ 8 at MP. The following weekend will not have a long run, but I'm running a 5k in the morning on Sunday, and I'll log a double that day for about 15 miles. The weekend after (15th), I'm doing 18 w/ 10 at MP. The weekend before the race will be 12 mostly easy. Good luck in your marathon.
