The only place Teare is going to be in the fall is in Diamond League events after he wins bronze in Tokyo. Can someone please tell me again why they think he’ll be better in the 5,000? He’s better than any American in the 1,500/mile right now.

Teare and Hocker will make 1500 team.
Hocker ran 4:07 in solo conditions as a high Schooler, got 2nd at NXN and 1st at footlocker
So yea was pretty good then you have him workout with all Americans and boom
Definitely, he's in great shape for tomorrow's 800 final. Will be a great clash with Gomez and Hedeilli

It’s definitely possible, especially if Centro can’t find it.

I think its fair to say that being more fatigued going in will set you up worse on a hilly course than a regular course, right?
No, I don't know where that assumption comes from
I guess you're right, its not universal. Kiptoo will thrive.
Plus it depends more on the race tactics - if its flat out on a regular course and tactical on a hilly course, those with tired legs might prefer the latter.
I was just thinking what a miler coming off 2-3 hard races would want to run
Been reading these messages boards since rungroteschief... maybe 6 career posts. But just had to say I simply don’t know what to make of the 3 Oregon guys looking so easy today in very fast times. Maybe the shoes are a gigantic difference. Lots of other fast guys in the heat one mile too. Maybe cross really does “ damage “ you more than we thought for track. It’s like I’m watching a sport which has decoupled from its past.
What’s good now?
The Oregon 3 looked so easy. And even Brown with what a 3:58/ 2:53 double ...
DMR Video is up
Dude, stick to your guns. You're right for a variety of reasons, and I think it's well-established that (a) Hardloper never ran at a high level, and (b) Hardloper knows next to nothing about high-level running. 1. Flat course is more favorable to the track guys. 2. Hilly course effectively runs longer so doubly less favorable to the miler/3k track guys. 3. Hilly course is that much tougher when you're carrying fatigue into the race. It's far easier to "fake it" on tired legs on the flats, and the hills will expose you that much more.

Yep, the whole way. Champing at the bit wanting to go faster? Sub 50 tomorrow??
looked possible, at least faster than her 50.52

No. We have no idea if they can kick in a tactical mile. Teare seems like he can.
Hocker? Not sure if he can. Look at Tanner today. When your 800 pb is like 149, you often are in trouble in slow races.
True, but his PR was 1:50 as a high school senior
The 1:49 featured a 26 second last 200m, during which Hocker outkicked Teare
so context matters here
Didn't Hocker run 1:49 the day after 3:50?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
