Democrats lose again!!!!
YES!!!
Now there's a real man, a real leader. Not afraid to go his own way to do the right thing when there's pressure from society, media and the communist minded "leaders" which hold people back for their own personal agenda under the guise of caring about people's health. Newsflash: they don't actually gives a rats behind about your health. It's all a front to fulfill their ultimate agenda.
Sounds like the governor needed a political distraction for some reason? I'm sure that he meant that everything will re-open once power and water service are restored for all Texans.

You mean 2024 president Ted Cruz?
good for tx
A real leader? I hope your joking. This is the same guy who opened up Texas too early last year. He folded to social and media pressure and closed the state back up a few months later. "do his own thing ""Not afraid to go his own way to do the right thing when there's pressure from society" give me a break--he's the farthest thing from a real leader.

lol yes this exactly. he's folding to the pressure of his science-ignoring party and the consequences of a disaster induced by climate change and a lack of planning.
Makes a lot of sense with just 44,178 death to date.
They love to be number one and probably soon they will be.
Abbott got a poll showing 58% approval after the blackout and thinks that he can now run for President. So, he is going to do everything he can in the next two years to pander to the nutbag right wing of the party so he can beat Trump in the 2024 primary.
I would normally freak out about this, but the restrictions in Texas have been pretty slack anyway. In the burbs and rural areas, a lot of people already blow off wearing masks. So, we were pretty much screwed no matter what Abbott did. The only good news was that the blackout closed up much of the state for several days and slowed transmission of the virus at a critical time. But that will only delay the inevitable. Texas will be back in the barrel by mid to late March with the UK variant becoming dominant. The only silver lining will be that a lot of 65+ and people with medical conditions will get vaccinated by then so the death toll won't quite be off the charts.

Leftists in a nutshell. They live to freak out and scream for Big Government Nanny to hold their wittle hands.
They care nothing about kids having their childhoods stolen or small business owners losing everything they worked tirelessly for or low wage earners with no jobs and at the end of their ropes.

The party does not ignore the science. Political science however, that may be a different story.

Better late than never.
Great move by Abbott and Texas. The Lone Star State will lead the way in getting this country back to normal.

Wait, what now?
Why did it take him so long? Did he not care about childhoods and small businesses before now?
Btw Kayleigh took a job working for the media.
I am a huge fan of this mass experiment on the good people of Texas and can't wait for the results. There was a general lack of any real enforcement previously so it's not going to be the sort of day and night difference in behavior that would be even more interesting, but it could still pave the way for the rest of the country to open up again, if things work out well. Fingers crossed!
My thoughts and prayers are with the good people of Texas and I hope the experimental results turn out favorably; specifically that the cases of Covid continue to decline and the number of deaths also continue to decline. Thank you for volunteering!
