Matt Folk for the win!
Hi Matt!!
Matt Folk for the win!
Hi Matt!!
hussain for the win
carney will learn a lot in his debut, and will run good in his second marathon. Hussain will finish at least 3 minutes ahead of him.
what has pilja done in a long time? Has he ever run a marathon? I would like to see him run well.
Pilja debuted at 2:18 in Austin and is in A LOT better shape now. His training is on athleticore

What makes me think that he will beat these guys (sans possibly Hussein)? Simple, he's f'ing better than them. It's that simple."
He's 'f'ing better than them'? Well, shit, then they shouldn't even run the race. It really is that simple, especially in the marathon- I mean, the better runner ALWAYS beats the lesser runner when it comes to 26.2, right? Especially in his/her marathon debut. Mmm hmm. Hopefully Carney does have a great race, but it's definitely not that simple, nosleirbag, no matter how well one's training/preparation has gone leading up to it...
GO JOANIEEE! Do it for all us ancient ones. I would love to Twin cities again - fab race.
Is it true they are EPO testing at this race? Thats what my friend at USADA told me.
Way to get your panties in a bunch, sub2:17. It is that simple.

What kind of calendar do you use. It isnt that long ago and he has shown recent fitness. Also he has run sub 2:10 since that 2:08.
Yeah I know it will be Carney's first marathon but the guy is fit and ready.. All I know is that in practice his 10 mile tempo was sub 48min and his 12 mile tempo was in 57 minutes... I think he will be able to pop a sub 2:11, definitely sub 2:13... Will see though!
Cordes for the win. He is just too damn tough.
Carney will run up front for a while before his lack of experience takes over.
Hussein will probably dnf when realizing that USADA is there.
Those are the only 3 guys that are capable of running 2:12 so who really cares who is next.
my vote is for todd witzleben to win
he not running
I arrived last night. Looks like the weather will be excellent for your championships. Going out to survey the course for prime viewing spots later today. Any suggestions?
JBS is looking for a Qualifer for the 2008 Olympic Trials.
Last year at Boston JBS and Patti Dillon both said they want to be on the line for the'08 Trials---Twin Cities times count for Qual. Special one day window -normal Q period starts 1 jan 2006.I suspect JBS will run a "safe"race and shoot for a 2:45 to get the qualifer.

In what world is a forecasted high of 80 excellent weather for a marathon?

Exactly. This morning would have been pretty decent -- 40 degrees at 8am, getting up to low 50s by 11am, and a nice westerly that would have been at your back up the hill and along Summit.
When I saw the local TV stations say we were going to have a "beautiful weekend," that it was the "return of summer" I felt bad for people running. An overnight low of 54 is not awful, but it ain't great for a marathon.
But hey, it's Minnesota, it could still change!
Low to mid 50s at the start won't be bad for those completing the race in less than 3 hours, oui? Thanks Patrick for the directions.
