Actual funny threads, comments, and truly witty comebacks have been silenced in recent years. For all of the complaining about cancel culture, this place engages in it frequently. A lot of good threads get deleted because a moderator doesn't like the POV expressed or someone hijacks it/reports it because they got butthurt. What passes for funny now is mostly schoolyard taunts, lame political memes, and whatever faux macho posturing WesFly engages in.
This used to be an intelligent site. Now, it's mostly high school and college kids that think, "Abraham Lincoln vs. Justin Gatlin at 692.53 meters on a singletrack trail: Who you got?" and jealousy about social media influencers making more money than pro runners.

I've been here a long time and people have been saying this for at least 10 years. Probably longer. It might be true, but saying LRC used to be really something...is as old as the site itself.
For the record. Lincoln, because he would have had Grant send some cavalry to take care of doper Gatlin. Obvi. -
When Banana Bread was talking on the training thread and he said that his Uncle Buck used to dress up as Bekele and jump out at him at random points on his run to provide motivation.
-
Multiple threads but whenever laterunnerphil chimes in on Tinman training and starts speaking as if he is part of the team when he isn't and everybody starts shredding his training plans apart.

Absolutely true.
I’ll take Lincoln over Gatlin in this matchup as well. 685 meters and maybe JG takes it, but anything over 690m and it’s not even close. Give Lincoln a speed suit and he’d crush an 800. -

Okay if Ryun ran on modern tracks 1:42 and then modern day with super spikes 1:40-1:39.9

A nearly thousand page multi year thread on the Dow supposedly going to crash, which was proceeded by the largest and longest bull market of all time

That’s a good one!
I also liked when Henry Rono would post about getting back into shape -
Married a girl I met through LetsRun and the BroJos came to our wedding and gave us the black page the following day.

Were either one of them your maiden of honor? -
2016 Election Thread.

The Hadd versus Cabral “two types of runners” thread may have had the highest signal to noise ratio ever recorded on LRC
-
The Robert Young trans America record thread was a good one.

My favs are the poor guy that had dinner at Ryan’s Steakhouse and the thread where the guy was going to post a marathon tip a day.

The thread about the viral facebook dad guy who ran the Boston marathon, but his qualifier turned out to be fake. Rojo offered like $100k or something for him to run close to it again, which let to his trying to fake a 5k in sub 20 but he got the timing wrong. Throughout the years he actually trolled his own thread as well. The guy also got arrested a few times for public and domestic violence.
Can't remember his name now, Mike somebody. -
Packin Heat with the fanny pack is my all-time favorite. No close second. I still laugh so hard my stomach hurts when reading it. Enjoy.

Practically anything Banana Bread says, he’s absolutely goated - just like Bekele.
JS threads with different handles posting about him in third person is epic as well. -
the thread where egf suggested doing a pushup workout where if you did 6 sets youd total like 20 pushups
