I know we just had a half marathon last month in Valencia that saw four guys break 58:00. But next month's RAK Half could be even better.
We already knew the men's race would feature the men who went 1-2-4 in Valencia in WR holder Kibiwott Kandie (57:32), Jacob Kiplimo (57:37), and Alexander Mutiso (57:59). Now they've added one of the greatest half marathoners in history: Geoffrey Kamworor, the former WR holder (58:01) and three-time World Half champ. Kamworor hasn't competed since February 2020 after fracturing his tibia after being hit by a motorcycle on a run last year.
I'm so pumped to see Kamworor back and (presumably) gunning to recapture his WR.
Plus the women's race has added two-time world 5k champ Hellen Obiri (debut) to a field that includes the half marathon (Ababel Yeshaneh) and marathon (Brigid Kosgei) world record holders. This race is going to be phenomenal.
