I'm just pissed as I think anyone would be given the events of last weekend and what I experienced.
I don't think the police necessarily need additional training to deal with 'mental health', they're human beings, they're prone to judgement like anyone else. They deal with a lot of crazies as it is.
They may see me as having mental health issues when I see their behaviour as indicative of poor mental health. It's a matter of perception.
Yep I had a knife but I put it on the desk for the officer. I told them to take it away. I brought it in as a responsible and concerned citizen. It's all on video tape. I concealed the knife as well behind the clipboard so they wouldn't see me entering the station with a knife in hand. I took it in to the station as responsibly as I felt I could.
The officer became aggressive with me well after the knife had been removed.
It has nothing to do with mental health, it has to do with him getting impatient and not wanting to take my traffic complaint statement, maybe him getting jealous or insecure that I am running for mayor (he tried to take my clipboard away). It's quite possible he knows I am a threat to be his superior and have more influence in the city and he doesn't want that.
I am a very patient person, I wait until things work in my favour. I don't make stupid decisions as the police did on Sunday.
