Ah Thing to remember about this is she is only a teenager. I can look back a few years ah thing is not a lot of teenagers have run this quick.

Forget AthingMu, that HS junior just ran 1 second slower.
Athing's negative split time trial is much more noteworthy. She's on course for a 1:58 with better pacing and better competition
The high schooler has hit her ceiling. She won't run any faster for the rest of the indoor season, or maybe even the rest of the year. She is NOT in Mu's league at all.
What makes you think she has more upside than a high school junior? Mu ran 2:03.98 at this time her junior year.

Mu also ran 1:23 600m earlier that season and went on to run 51.9 and 2:01(at the US champs) outdoors. And folks are trying to put this unproven high school junior in the same league? Nonsense!
A lone 2:02 is nice, but she's gotta back it up. Fast HS times come a dime a dozen.
She will back it up. She just ran a few days ago. You are acting like she ran that a year ago. I expect that she will run 2 flat this year and will be in the final at the US championships. I also expect her an Mu to run 1:58 a few years from now.
After watching both, I think Whittaker has more potential. I predict 1:57 lifetime and 1:58 for Mu.
Cain's record is going down before Whittaker is done with high school.

Athing Mu running 600 m today (5:05 pm local (central))
https://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=b3dfd865-4fd5-4b92-a051-87a522304b64Mu 1:25.8 to win 600 m today, new NCAA record easily beating a 2:02 800 m runner.

Fixed it for you "coach"
Ajee Wilson has run 1:22 and 1:55. So to get to 1:54, MU would need to hit 1:21 in the 600.
50.94 split on the 4x400m ??
Rude to predict Whittaker not to improve.

Rude and delusional to suggest a random High schooler has more upside than a proven phenom.
Yes Mu running 1:21 over 600m sounds about right
Anything else "coach"?
No, it is not rude to make objective predictions. What if you are a high school coach and you had a senior guy run 1:54 at state and a soph guy run 1:55? Would you really predict the long term upside as more for the senior? You are showing bias toward Mu. She is 2 years older and has a PR only 1 second faster. Ask anybody familiar with athletics which one will have a faster lifetime PR and 90% will pick the younger one.

Pot calling the kettle black. How rich.
You're showing bias towards an unproven high schooler.
That 2:01 was a time trial with no competition and yet she STILL ran about a second faster than the random High schooler who had to run out of her skin to clock a 2:02. Sorry there's really no comparison there and a single 2:02 ain't enough to make any sort of objective prediction about anything. Just wishful(read: delusional)thinking on your part, if you can be honest with yourself.
Yes. I'd really predict the long term upside of an 18 year old who has consistently run fast times, is battled tested against pros, is an American record/age group record/collegiate record holder and who has proven talent over multiple distances (200m to the mile).
So what if you supposedly coached two middling half milers lucky to get a D2 scholarship. Youre still unwarrantedly biased toward a half miler clearly not on Mu's level
That you continue to suggest such shows how delusional you are, especially in a thread about Mu.
Start your own blasted thread about the unproven kid if that floats your boat and let's see how many comments and updates that thread'll get instead of leeching off the buzz around Mu.
You sound way too invested in Mu. Afraid to answer the question that I posed? How about a high school boy running 1:48 as compared to a college guy running 1:47? You would predict the college guy as having a high ceiling? You are making no sense. I have no bias toward either of these girls but you sure do. Less than 1 second separates them but 2 grades do. Anybody familiar with the sport would pick the younger of the two. You would do the same if it was Mu two years ago running 2:02 as compared to a college runner running 2:01. I did not originate the discussion about Whittaker. It was ck3237.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
