He passed away today of a major heart attack and l really didn't get along with him at all, anyway so my sister put out a heartfelt post on Facebook and everyone posted sad faces and prayers, but l hit the wrong button and it was on Facebook all day. When l got back on Facebook l had all kind of nasty post. I tried to explain it was a mistake, but my sister blocked me, so l can't get back on her Facebook to change it. She thinks l did it on purpose and dosen't want to ever speak to me again. No one believes me because l really didn't like him and was vocal about it, but l would never intentionally post a laughing face on Facebook and take joy in his death. What should l do?
You say you didn't like (actually hated per another post) him and were vocal about it, so of course she believes it was on purpose. Any condolences from you would have been hypocritical anyway.

Your sister's husband sounds like a real pr!ck. I'm on your side on this dispute. Actually, I think your sister is a loser too. Stick to your guns. Don't let these awful people run your life.
Just my $00.02.

This doesn't make any sense. Condolences aren't directed at the deceased. They are directed at the friends/family who are left behind. OP could dislike the husband and still express that he feels bad for his sister for losing her spouse. Please explain why doing so would be hypocritical.

Not sure I believe this. When you hit the different face buttons on Facebook, it shows right away and even says which one you chose (for example, it will say “haha” for the laugh face). you could have easily seen you hit the laughing face and could have hit it again to immediately undo it. Either this didn’t happen, you weren’t paying attention whatsoever when you did or you did it on purpose.
I wasn't paying attention. It has happened before but l changed it quickly, this time l didn't notice it. It can quite easily happen .
So what button were you trying to hit - a sad face? Emojis are not appropriate for expressing condolences when someone dies except maybe for a young child who can't always express themselves with words. Your only concern here should be reaching out to try and comfort your sister in her grief, and don't do it on FB.
You should learn to use an apostrophe and a comma correctly, so that we can tell if the husband of your sister died, the husband of more than one of your sisters died (Mormon, perhaps) or both your sister and your husband died.
Oh - 0/10 by the way

I still see it as hypocritical, but I agree he should have called or visited her.
I also didn't like my sister's husband, but I never badmouthed him. She was going to do what she wanted and nothing good was going to come from sharing my opinion with her.
?
0/10. You are talking about a situation like this:

I love it when spelling and grammar nazis make stoopid spelling mistakes. :-)
Okay, you got me. So i come clean when necessary. Why doesn't the OP?
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but even if people unfriended him on facebook, all it would take is: to post that you are sorry about the mistake you made, and then in due time the people who unfriended him would certainly come to learn of his retraction/mistake.
Do you wonder why someone faced with this concern would come to LRC to explain about it at length? Does that sound likely?

11/10 if you are trolling. If not, it's still the funniest thread I have read in along time.
This should be made into a movie. It will win major awards with the right script and cast.

Perhaps just an episode of the Seinfeld reboot, heaven forbid there should ever be one.
You could always create another account in your name and then create more laughing faces and then maybe explain that you are laughing on the outside but crying on the inside. Or you could explain that you have been diagnosed as having a version of Tourette’s Syndrome which manifests through impulsive emojis.
