Nike has a return policy of 30/60 days no questions asked even if the shoes have been worn.
My question is, what happens to the returned shoes?
Outlets?
Sponsored athletes?
Charity schemes?
Landfill?
Some shoes will be returned in resellable condition having only been tried on indoors, others might have 100+ miles on them, so is there a department that grades the returned shoes?
What happens to Nike.com returned shoes?

This. Some of them get shredded for the playgrounds (it's called nike grind), and others are used in the production of certain sustainable materials, like their Crater Foam. Barely used (tried on, walked in a few steps maybe) pairs are seemingly resold at the store they're returned to, which is why on occasion you see more coveted or expensive pairs at outlets. -
They glance at them. If perfect, on the shelf at the outlet. If not perfect, into the dumpster.
-
They reshelve most of them. Thus explaining why i no longer but their crap, racist products.

I heard there's a charity out there that supply shoes to people who only want to run FKT attempts. That's where they end up.
-
They only cost $2 per shoe to manufacture in China. I understand they are shredded and become recycled material.

They make Space Hippie shoes out of them. For realz.

That's the playground for the people who never grow up. Sounds about right. -
Some are sold to outlets or other third party resellers, some go to the dumpster, very few are resold as new.
They expect a percentage of shoes will be returned so they factor the cost of their return policy into the price of the shoe. -
I've seen used shoes at the outlet. I bought a pair of wild horse 5 for $40, maybe 2 weeks ago. Looked like someone walked around in them.
Also bought a pair of VFFk ekiden for $120 at the outlet, also looked like someone ran a up to a mile in them. It was right after they sold out. Kinda dumb, since I never got around to wearing them. I got caught up in the hype.
That said, i put 50 miles on a zoomfly3 and returned them. Not sure where those go. Too worn to resell. I imagine they are donated, and a third party gets the credit. -
I think they find the 5 year old in the third world that made them and cane them. Nike are terrible.

It is a fantastic book. Love or hate Nike, you should read it. -
Are you serious? They are shredded? I always cleaned any marks off them before returning so they were thoroughly clean.
-
Some of them probably end up on ebay.

I wonder if I could put 500 miles on a pair of vaporfly and return them for a full refund...
