I didn't know the Guntsch's personally but they raced all over. I am from central Ohio and was in a few races Stormi-Ann ran in. She was even writing race reports for Running Times when she was 13 or 14.
In the September issue of Running Times, the Highlights 18-and-under section read as follows: "Three year old Windi-Sue Guntsch, little sister of Stormi-Ann Guntsch, completed two races in Michigan, a 3 miler in 51:15 and a 4 miler in 69:19. Since Bucky Cox was the first reported 8 year old to complete a 50 MILE race, his 8:31:24 time in the rocky Mountain 50 miler in Wyoming sets a pending age-8 record.
December 1981- Three year old Windi-Sue Guntsch is once again our lead off performer, this time with her first 10k race, a 1:52:35 age 3 record time in Galion, Ohio. (About 10 miles from where I live)
December 1982-Windi-Sue Guntsch lacks competition in the under-5 age group; she continues to add new pending age records to her collection, with a 1:07:35 10k in Cadillac, and a 58:23 8k in hometown Montrose, Michigan. (Note the 45 minute improvement in her 10k in only one year)
