I have narrowed down my college search to 2 colleges and would like to hear reasoning from you all on where you would go if you where me. Here are my options:
D1 college with only cross country team, no school sponsored track team, full academic scholarship
or
D2 college that has xc, track and indoor and was top 20 in the D2 national meet last year
both schools have the degree I want and I like both colleges equally.
Is the D1 school big and likely to last? Is the D2 school small and expensive or cheap and has enrollment been consistent and steady or declining? I would not trust a small DII school if tuition is really high and enrollment has been up and down; at least find a cheaper school that fits that bill. The small expensive colleges are clearly not managing their costs effectively, and they are most at risk of closing down over the next tens years. Unless it is a long time school of prestige, I would avoid those as you don't want the degree you get to be from a defunct institution. Right now, I would balance security of the school over running at all levels, even if you have a scholarship.
