TC is such a tool.
Go jump on Oprah’s sofa Tom.
I’ve met him. He’s a prick.
I’m all for boycotting all of Hollywood and their crap entertainment. Especially this weirdo Scientologist.
This is just a strong-willed ALPHA employer motivating his slacker, moocher employees, who deserve no protections from politically correct "hostile workplace" laws.
DEFCON 5 is the least serious level.
Definitely over the top but if their actions (presumably not following COVID rules) could potentially shut down the workplace and put a number of people out of work I think he has a right to be pretty pissed off.
It's not about whether you believe the COVID rules are necessary or not, it's about whether some pencil pusher can shut down the workplace for not being COVID compliant.
Sounds like Tom got short with them.

Yes

Yes
Roid rage?
How would you handle it differently?
The question is not rhetorical, I'm curious. I don't think the yelling and swearing did any good.
I read that Tom Cruise had many delays on MI7--his money--because of defining protocols and because of crew memberts testing positive (maybe cast as well?).
As to the world pandemic, the first wave was old people in assisted care, those who interacted with them, and some others traveling about and interacting with lots of people for extended periods of time while socializing at bars for hours during a night, and while eating at restaurants.
The second wave--if any of the official reports are to be believed--was almost entirely spread by young people socializing, some by people eating at restaurants or close association at other public places, and by those who don't have private places to retire at night.
As the two waves played out, and hopefully the vaccines will do the job to remove the problems, I notice that it is primarily still those on the "outskirts of society" and those who "rebel for the sake of rebelling" that don't follow the protocols.
Someone I know recently communicated that he stopped at a rest area during a long drive back during the holiday and someone was standing near him for just a minute, then started coughing and whatever while unmasked, almost in the direction of the person I know. Waited out about 2 weeks to see if there were any symptoms (none!).
I'm sorry, but I don't see what he did wrong or what's newsworthy about this.
"Boss tells his employees to follow the rules or get fired"
Is this news?
He got heated and angry, but he also had a lot at stake.
I was hoping we had a good reason to ridicule him, but I am disappoint.
Genuine question. I get that a movie star at the Tom Cruise level has enough clout to get anyone fired, but does Cruise actually employ any of these people or have the authority to make the pronouncements he is making?
I would think as lead actor, he has nothing to do with the hiring/firing process (officially). But maybe he is like a co-producer or something as well as actor so he does have more say?

According to IMDB:
Produced by
J.J. Abrams ... producer
Tom Cruise ... producer
He's also been putting his own money into it to keep it going.
The 2nd wave is still old people; young people have likely been spreading it with mild symptoms the entire time. Tom is a bit of a hot head and an elitist. It surprises me that he is even able to find people willing to work for him. I am sure McDonald's is a better gigi out in CA than a Tom Tom gig.

Yes, in the modern pajama boy workplace.
I went into this video expecting to see a typical Commifornian pretending to be someone he's not. Instead, I refreshingly saw, if not for a brief moment, a business owner telling it like it is, his way or the highway. One can disagree with his management style, but his method is his prerogative and his employees can assert their own self-determination to either follow the rules or walk.
Tom Cruise is an amazing perfectionist. You will find very few actors at his age of 58 doing their own stunts. He is a great athlete who has been defying the physical limits of age. He works hard at his craft and takes it very seriously.
He puts his all into his movies, including his training efforts and his personal finances. The movie industry has been hit hard by this pandemic. Yet there are yahoos out there (honestly probably mostly trump cult members) who still don't have masks and go to crowded parties as if they are still totally clueless as to what is happening in the world.
I am sure all these yahoos lucky enough to be working on a movie with Cruise have been instructed what they need to do and they ignored it. They are lucky they just got yelled at and not fired.
I don't blame cruise for being angry. He is putting himself out there 100% and they are not bothering to wear a mask? What's wrong with THEM.
What if a known white Republican was caught yelling at female employees or minority employees like that? Protests would erupt.
I want the truth!

agreed - if those employees have repeatedly put the project at risk to be shut down, he has a right to be upset. If the writing needs to be on the wall for them to take it seriously, so be it. TC has said some crazy things but this isn't one of them

Every CEO in America has a lot at stake, but something tells me that you wouldn't argue that they can yell and berate their employees.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
