Cold hard capitalism. I love to see it. Time to see these liberal trust fund whiners pull themselves up by their bootstraps. May be tough in Biden's radical socialist economy... Might have to wait till Trump 2024 ;-)

Trump and Biden are both neocons and neocons don’t preserve anything
He’s far from a communist and trump is far from a fascist

Okay buddy ??? got any sources for that?
Truth. Wouldn't really matter if Schumacher were coaching this group as it's a low, set ceiling for them collectively. Sponsorship for a group like this largely amounts to charity with high hopes for any sort of exposure. It's nice that it keeps people around long enough to qualify for US champs and progress to making the final, maybe even come within sneezing distance of the podium. It helps the sport but probably doesn't help Hoka's marketing visibility much at all.
I live in NYC and it’s unbelievable how many runners you see in Hoka sneakers there days. I think NJNY is a big reason
Help me out, why would any runner want to train with a club in the cold weather location.?
I would not have even looked at Hokas if it weren't for Kyle Merber.
He made me overcome my fear of Overcushioned Moon Shoes, and now I run in the Cliftons as my primary trainer.
The stupidity of these posts....just stunning.
Gags has lost a step.......? HE'S 83!!
Because HOKA NYNJ doesn't have the resources for Sports Psychologists, Massage Therapists, Pharmacists, or Endocrinologists on staff and don't rely on hermatocrit counts....they are not scientific enough???
He brings together athletes both up and coming and at the end of their careers and stitches together a program to try and keep dreams alive.
You could make the comment below to any coach; Bowerman, Dellinger, Cerutti, Lydiard, ......and it would be just as absurd.
"But for every star you've worked with, there's likely many more so-so athletes that also have to be accounted for."
Really, dude? What diamonds-in-the-rough were unearthed and polished into world class through this group? I don't disagree that Gags was doing this as a service to tier B athletes, yet it is what it is. He's had a great run and I'd even say NJNY has bolstered his legacy and not tarnished it at all.
As for the other person talking about Hokas selling so well in NYC, I got one thing that sells them 1000% better than NYNJ: pavement.

A lot of people benefit from being close to family support and home on the East Coast and can find better facilities available in the NE corridor than in Georgia or Florida. During cold weather, they're training for and competing in indoor season, anyway. They can always easily get away to AZ or CA for winter camps if it makes sense without the downsides of living out there all year. Hell, you could say the same for all the Boston guys in the '70s and '80s, at a time when Shorter was up in CO, who trained through New England winters for Boston and through Boston's summers for NYC. It worked for them better than the available alternatives.
Ummm Johnnie Gregorek and Ce’aira Brown both WC finalists.
Both Johnny Gregorek and Ce’aira Brown in the last 2 years.
I stand corrected. Though it's not that I doubted Gags, just the group drawn to this setup. Hopefully NJNY finds some sustaining funding. I'm sure there's room enough for them and Empire Elite to coexist as prime opportunities for Olympic development in that area.
Wow HOKA is starting to look like a bunch of Bozos for losing these guys. The entire Empire crew has been crushing it! Keep it going !!

Yes. Colby Alexander just ran 3:35, Rob Napolitano just ran 3:35, Isaac Updike ran an 8:17 steeple ((#1 in the world at the time), Eric Holt just ran 3:36. Hoka dropped these guys, including two-time Olympic Steeple finalist, Donn Cabral, during an Olympic year....bastards. Their shoes suck anyway. Dropping these guys actually made them faster. They’re prob all wearing the Nike super shoes now. Ha!!
Ooh...and by the way...Gag is as passionate now as he ever was. I know him and talk to him every week. He hasn’t lost a thing upstairs. He’s one of those elder statesmen who must have inherited that gene that protects you from age-related dementia. Sharp as a f*cling tack.
Also Dani Aragon to finals of women’s 1500m
