Heard the XC/Distance coach from University of Cincinnati resigned and got the Xavier position. Makes sense. Go from distance only assistant to head of XC and Track. And its not like he could make em any worse

I thought so too at first but the jumps coach definitely left and in the preferred qualifications it mentions the jumping events

Trevor Dunbar will be at cal
Confirmed
I know its fashionable to rip on CAL here & "name" hires and yeah I know CAL is a faux P5 who's men are always one budget cut away from getting cut, losing their facility, have a terrible track record and need a serious rebuilding. And the assistant to the assistant usually ends up being the van driving ops guy. But so what? A good kid who's paid his dues gets his first full time job in a great place. Most start at a far worse job. During a pandemic when no one is hiring none the less. Congrats to him and good luck to CAL!
Sean Carlson to Huntington? BS the opening was just posted.

Yes, always consider this thread as a general guide, but never THAT accurate. Most people in the know don't really post on here.

No it's completely accurate. Of course a well established Coach of an elite NCAA XC program, who develops athletes and recruits very well, would leave a presumably well paying and enjoyable job to coach a NAIA program that pays- What was it again? 30k/year or something like that?
I was told close to 50k. You can come off your high horse now.
Guess I know what I’m talking about ;) But what would letsrun know. Takes someone in the 1% to know what really goes on.

He worked as a volunteer at Boston so he has a connection under Robyne Johnson which made it more of a comfortable pick.
Calling Cal a great position? Pump the breaks alittle bit. It a rebuilding project there with not the greatest financial situation in the world and Covid made it worse. There was a reason why alot of people turned down this job and why Darling didn't even show up.
That being said, if Dunbar and Lockhart work together (Another debate for another day), its possible they can turn that program around. It will take time though. Best of luck to both of them.

Oh it might be 50K, I just remember hearing in an article that the guy who got arrested made 30k, but I think I was getting confused or didn't remember it right.

Dude get off LetsRun w/ your BS. I’m sure if any athletic director saw what you post on LetsRun im sure they would not be happy
Boo-hoo
I did not call it a great position. I called it a great place. As in Berkeley California in the San Francisco Bay Area. Which by many accounts has a very high quality of life with plenty of awesome places to run with ideal year round weather. Certainly better than Boston and has to have a lot more for a young guy than Tallahassee Florida, Eugene Oregon or Anchorage Alaska, all places he's stopped. Most young white males with no full-time experience have to start in Norman Oklahoma or Omaha Nebraska or some other back water like Richmond Kentucky. And yes, I'm well aware that plenty with more bargaining power turned CAL down because of all the reasons you mentioned. Good luck to them all!
Zero chance he leaves ND for Huntington that’s laughable...
As big of a joke is that Huntington is going to pay their XC coach 50k!??? This is a school that even the basketball coach was part time just a few years ago...
The only reason they had decent funding is because of the Johnson’s and family donations paying for scholarships and supplementing their budget.
This is a 30k job at best. Sounds like it’s full time, but 50k is never happening for XC.
Best bet would be someone who wants to come in for one year, make a name for themselves if wilson and everyone stays, then parlay that into a better job.
Merry Christmas Trevor

If you read this board in the last few weeks you would think Huntington was an NAIA distance powerhouse. Fact is, they have not done anything team wise distance related
NAIA Cross Country Nationals
Year. Women. Men
2019. 10th 17th
2016-2018 neither team qualified for nationals (I did not look Beyond 2016) On another note, the NAIA has lost some good teams the last 5+ years so moving up in the rankings has become a littler easier (Brit. Columbia, Cal San Marco’s, Biola)
