There is danger in that person getting into an auto accident and also colliding with others on the mountain. Both can result in fatalities. But the reason this person is not going there is because they value the virus risk as you do over ALL other forms of danger.
It's the same logic that has compromised the safety of every school in the US that had lockdown protocols in place. Now, because of COVID we will just have open windows, classes outside, etc... making all of these schools easy targets.
The only danger we care about now is COVID.

You don't have to go to a mountain to collide with another skier or snowboarder. Your spouse may work in a place where some co-workers ski or snowboard. Heck, you could also endanger your kid's school teacher. Why didn't Ms Smith take personal responsibility to avoid a student whose father went to work where snowboarders were working?
