Okay, so no NARPs. So at this point there are two options. Have one of the non-special teams guys stand in at kicker, or bring in someone from another team. As it would happen, at around the same time, the soccer team, fresh off an SEC championship was returning to Nashville, among them Sarah Fuller, the goalkeeper.
Why couldn't the punter kick the field goals? He averaged 43 yards on 7 punts which is pretty good.
I see he is the holder, so maybe that would an issue on field goals. Is it easier to use the girl kicker or teach someone else to hold?
He could have done the kick-off for sure.
Are you serious? She didn't kick a field goal. They wouldn't risk her getting hit or embarrassing herself even more than she did if she would have kicked a similar field goal and have it get run back.
What a freakin woke joke. It makes it more pathetic that the SEC names her special teams player of the week. I’m all for women playing football if they actually play. This was definitely not that. She was not courageous to do what she did. If she kicked a 40 yard field goal then mildly courageous. If she catches a pass over the middle and gets hammered - that’s courageous. This- joke.
Hodgetwins misogynistic rant:
I agree with this but differently.
While Ms. Fuller did get to play for a Div 1 power 5, I am surprised that everyone has forgotten about Ms. Katie Hnida....2003 New Mexico kicker, who actually scored points for a Division 1 school.
The accolades are deserved in real time because she played, but technically Hnida was the first Div. 1 female, power 5 or not.
Fuller played for a power 5 conference because she happened to be at that school for another sport.
New Mexico, being in the WAC doesn't lessen Hnida as a kicker.

Probably most of us. I would have respected this cheesy stunt more if she at least kicked it to the endzone (as my 6th grade football teammates were able to do)
And in related news, the SEC announced the Hurdler of the Week

It is a dishonor to Fuller. I agree with Nate. She is an actual champion in her own right on the soccer field

Rumor has it Joe Biden is planning on inviting her to the White House.

Just for memory’s sake, Hnida’s first FG attempt was blocked. The two FGs she did make came in garbage time against a Texas State team that was in the FCS that a lot of Texas High School teams could beat
Apparently the guys on the team are done being used as a Disney story and are going to bag the rest of the season because of "Covid."
And we have a new leader in the race for the 2020 Heisman Trophy, and of course a guaranteed ESPY for "most heroic performance" or something.
December 12, 2020 ... a date that will live in history ...
Vanderbilt had a male kicker nail a 39 yard field goal.........yet they decided to put this girl in to barely make an extra point. Dumb.

Yeah.
Watched the kick on video. It was okay.
Clearly a woman who is a much better kicker than her could get some opportunities.
In that respect, she did something, but she didn't earn the right to kick the extra point for the team.
Honestly it's just a distraction in order for the coach to save his job. Vandy is such a crappy team they got blown out by 2-6 Tennessee. But this coach is able to give them positive publicity by virtue-signaling and the school is making money off of the stunt. Instead of talking about their winless year, we'll be taking about the publicity stunt.

I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
