No, or at least nowhere near as good as the 7, which was a good everyday shoe. 8 was a disappointment, it feels slow and boring. 8 was meant to be 7 improved with pebax and Goodyear rubber, but the combination just didn't work. The 7 was good for long easy runs, but could deal with faster work too
Hi,
Its an okay shoe the 8, but 7 was softer. The 8 I found is a bit firm and stiff. The Reebok Symmetros replaced it , much more enjoyable and responsive. You could also try the Asics Novablast but it is a bit less stable.
Cheers
Steve
I echo the previous posts. It’s not nearly as good as the 7. It’s better than several other brands but I was sorta disappointed when I got mine. The Ride 7 was a lot more reactive and several of my athletes were able to use it as a daily trainer, workout shoe, as well as a racer. In fact one of my athletes current marathon PR of 2:39 is in a pair of 7s.
I didn’t hate the 8, in fact I put about 350 miles on mine, but I just didn’t love it.
I tried it and sent it back. The Max Road 4+ is a softer ride- if that is what you are after.

I enjoyed the shoe a lot. It is not as versatile as some other shoes, but it is a great daily trainer. If running warehouse has them in your size get them.
I just got the Gorun Ride 8 and I like it, although I never ran in the 7's and can't compare it to that. I got them to be a mileage hauler without much intention of doing faster workouts and for that purpose they are working great so far. I have enjoyed the Hyper Burst compared to their older foams, but we'll see how holds up. For a shoe with such a high stack height, I like the Hyper Burst as compared to more standard EVA. I think Skechers is refining their lineup more to have different shoes for different purposes. For the faster stuff, it seems like the Razor is the better shoe.
The 7’s suck compared to the 8. The hyper is a superior shoe in all respects.

I'm using it as a daily mileage shoes. I did a short tempo in them and they were fine but they are a lot of shoe to do faster stuff.
I've done my easy mileage in Gorun Ride 8 and NB FuelCell Propel v1 for the last year. They've both been solid shoes with me. I slightly prefer the Propel, but I'm now close to retiring both of them for running and I prefer the Skechers for walking around.
I've found the shoes to be firm but very cushioned with a little bounce. The midsole is thick and I feel somewhat removed from the ground. I was surprised by how good the traction is in the Skechers, I felt good running on sidewalks with icy patches with them. I'm not planning on buying a second pair (would rather try something new), but I have no complaints about GRR8.
I much prefer the 8 to the 7. Not as soft but more responsive and stable. I find it to be more durable too.
Did you feel Ride 8 was too firm? I had the ride 7 and it may have worked but it was basically 1 size too small. I was going to get the ride 8 thinking the fit was better, durable, and fairly light...
Perhaps:

Also preferred the 7 over the 8. 7 felt softer, bouncier, less firm...Maybe less durable but the ride is so much nicer, I don't care.
I bought the Ride 8 after really liking the Run 7. But the feel of the hyper burst is very different between the 2.
The Run 7 has a nice bit of give and flex while still being responsive, while the Ride 8 is stiff, has less give, and feels clunky all around. Also the removable insoles moved around a lot until I out some double stick tape on them
While the 7 was softer, the 8 is still soft in my opinion. I’ve read descriptions of the 8 as being firm but it doesn’t feel that way to me. It’s not mushy like the Ride 7 or say a Clifton 6/7...more of a bounce —but not over the top bouncy like the Maxroad 4 or like the Novablast.
