It's agreed the demographic going to college is white and middle-class. But maybe this is because the debt puts off less privileged groups? But you're saying arguing for free tuition would put off less privileged groups - how can we win? If loans are a bad policy in 2020 they were a bad policy in 2015 too. If a bad policy can be erased we should - no?
Many blue collar jobs have disappeared but the politicians who support abolishing student loans aren't responsible for this. So why do they carry the burden of it? Young people going to college hasn't killed industry so I don't see the link.
And who do you describe as 'left behind'? Often these are thought of as being white. But whites who've been 'left behind' have much in common with black communities. Why is the politics for these groups so different?
