Everyone writes about D'Amato as if she is focused on the 5k at the Olympic Trials.
She'll enter the 5k . . . but her best track event will be the 10k which is contested on day 1.
I too subscribe to the simple 5k x 2 + 1min formula for projecting 10k times . . . which would put Keira right around 31 -flat . . . well under the Oly qualifying standard.
And, a serious contender for the 10k team along with Hall, Sisson and maybe Infeld.
As good as Keira's been in the 5k, very doubtful she would be competitive with the 5k specialists Schweizer, Rowbury, Fraser . . . and possibly even Simpson, Purrier and/or Cranny should they opt for the 5k vs the 1500 or simply don't make the 1500 team.
Note: Houlihan has consistently stated she will double at the Trials but will only run the 1500 at the Olympics since the Tokyo 1500 - 5k double is not doable. However, if something goes wrong with Shelby in the 1500, the women's 5k turns into even more of a world-class monster event.
