What has she done for the sport???
She was an OK athlete for what 3 years? She's barely a blip on the track & field radar.

interesting to note that with her 14:48 this year Elise Cranny seems like she he's the best chance at the olympic team out of the Cain/Efraimson/Cranny big 3 from 2014. The only one of the 3 to go the NCAA route
It is mind-blowing how she has developed with Bowerman.
idk if she quit but she does have a long way to get back to being competitive if she wants to be. It's so unfortunate what happened and how Salazar treated her. But I do think that her impact on the sport is far reaching beyond what she does as a runner.

I find it interesting that Rowbury and the other NOP females got a pass on how Salazar treated Cain. What I mean is Cain said how Salazar would say all those things in front of other team members. Why didn't the female team members reach out to her or better yet step in and shield her? Salazar gets destroyed by these boards and the media (as he should) but Rowbury and crew get a pass
It is almost as if much of what Cain claims really did not happen since the other women were fine. Funny how she wrote him asking to go back.
Efraimson had shoulder surgery and had to take some time off.

I agree they shouldn't. but ultimately they weren't the ones perpetuating the abuse.

At the 1976 International Prep Invitational 2 mile, my HS teammate (I was a junior) was ahead of Salazar until the last 60m. My teammate had mono during the winter, so his first race was a 2-mile in mid-April and was only 9:40. Salazar is slow and had poor running technique (looks like he is sitting down), but he has a strong will to win, so I was not surprised that he focused on the 10k and then the marathon. Congrats on that, but he should not be coaching anyone who runs shorter distances,
So...how did Salazar run fast 5Ks? Is the answer found in the recent links to PEDs that he wanted runners to take?
I feel sorry for Mary Cain, but her new coach was a 10K Olympian, so what is her focus, anyway? Can't Mary find a 800m/1500m runner to coach her?

No need to be nasty to her behind a keyboard. Not many pros are doing much of anything during the pandemic. The Tracksmith sponsorship/job is cool because she gets to work in the running industry. Hope that she isn't done running competitively but she has already done a ton for our sport even if some of the men on here can't see that. Hopefully she stays involved for years to come.
Well when you go onto be part of an article that is headlined “I was the fastest girl in America, until I joined Nike” it’s fair game to be critical.
I think Alberto is a piece of s*** but he didn’t do anything to Mary Cain. Mary Cain was a HS phenom who was never going to do anything later in her career as happens to many girls but she is conveniently putting the blame on Nike. Maybe look at your parents Mary? Cain should just be grateful that’s she’s been able to have a career as a professional runner when she never should have. She’s the worst. Don’t go pro if you don’t want to be treated as a pro
I pretty much agree. And her representation of Tracksmith will not encourage me to buy their products. I just don't know what target consumer they are after. My wife is not a fan of hers either. Young girls won't know who she is.

Tracksmith made some mistakes embracing wokeness and it looks like sales have been tanking as a result. Used to be that everything would routinely sell out, now excess stock lingers for months

Its a good thing no one gives a $hit what you and your wife think asswipe.
You do. You replied.
I do. Sounds like an honest opinion.
Facts -
Everyone at Mary Cain's high school HATED her. She has always been a selfish spoiled brat.
Salazar has worked with dozens of women's athletes. The only ones that complained about him are the ones that left in disgrace at their own fault. They needed a scapegoat because they don't have the integrity to take responsibility for their own mistakes.
Mary Cain will never make another US team in any event.

How are you saying they embraced wokeness? By hiring Cain and Nick Willis? I don't get it or is there something more.
Mary. Not Nick.

Yes, the other women under Salazar's tutelage deserve the blame. Not Salazar. Great point.
She got surgery.

Do you know what surgery, and when?
I tried to find out by surfing the net, but all I saw was her brief video of high-step drills and that was where she mentioned she was coming back from surgery.
She looked pretty fit and talented doing those drills, so perhaps her track career is not over.
I am going with wisdom teeth.

Exactly what did Salazar say to her, I can't remember...refresh me? I know he made some comment about her weight, are you talking about that?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
