How many people are able to just knock off their job for a year (effectively) for "family reasons"?
I've not heard of many athletes in other sports doing such. What was the real story?
Most top sports people do it now.
Latest big name, Indian Captain Virat Kohli, in Covid year when Test Cricket is few and far in between, and a long awaited big match up with Australia, battles for best batsman in world etc, he is simply coming for the First Test only, missing the last three including the big Boxing Day Melbourne one, for the birth of his first kid.
Virat is worth over $100M, and this comes despite the move heavily affecting the $450M free to air TV deal with Cricket Australia.
In fact, the Australian coach has advised his players not to miss events like this (births etc) in their lives.
Or are you asking, what is Virat's real story.
PS 1
Ask Trump how to pronounce Virat Kohli
PS 2
...and by the way, it wasn't a year, its only the DL meets for which he would not have been super competitive, he is back competing in the SA season
