Topo ultrafly 3
- roomy toebox. 5 mm drop. Stable. Cruises nicely for daily runs up to moderate paces
Topo fly lyte 3 - awesome no nonsense lightweight trainer. 3mm drop
FWIW- I like altra for walking/ hiking, but just can’t take the zero drop at normal training paces. Topo is distinctly different. Tighter mid foot and the 3-5 mm drop options make a big difference, I use a 2-3 mm heel lift to make the shoes 5 and 7 mm drop
Ultrafly- it often is billed as a trainer, but it picks up nicely. As a comparison runs much faster than a new balance 880. I would compare the ultrafly to the brooks launch, just way better fit and lower drop
1. Skechers GoRun Ride 8
2. Saucony Endorphin Speed
3. Nike React Miler
For me The Adidas SL 20 , very durable, good traction, lightweight, good cushioning and The Best price / Quality relation! Is so good that i bought another pair a week ago! The summer ready version
Anyone try out the adidas adizero Pro? Looks like a decent up tempo workout shoe (when it's on sale), but wanted to see if anyone out there has experience with it.
Topo Athletic Ultraventure
The Adizero pro a good shoe. Having a low(er) stack carbon plate shoe option for 5/10k is nice. The shoe runs similar to a Adios 5, be it a little stiffer and snapier due to the plate. What is also nice about it is that it does easy pace well, as in a warmup or cool down prior to a faster effort. That sets it apart from a Next% or any proper super shoe. The shoe is also outstanding on the track, so good it almost feels like that is what it was designed for. Intervals in the shoe are incredible but I still opt for the SL20 or a Nike Streak for these effort as I feel like I get better training out of them (i.e. I try to only race in plate shoes and train in shoes that make me work).
I've done a fast half marathon effort in it but prefer the Next% there. A full marathon still is the Alphafly for me. But I'm glad to have a low stack plate shoe in my kit for when it's needed.
Like all Adidas road shoes the Conti rubber outsole is outstanding so grip on just about any surface, including dirt, it remarkable. Additionally the low stack really helps with urban running where you are up and down from the sidewalks and on many different surfaces. As opposed to a closed course of open road where the Next% or Alpha shine.
Great shoe. Is it worth the premium over a Adios 5 or SL20... debatable... but it is a shoe I'm glad I have, I just don't need it.
That's helpful, thanks Another Dime
Vaporfly Next% - took them for an 8 mile jaunt for the first time today. You know how sometimes you’re driving a new car and look down at the speedometer and realize your going much faster than you think you are? That’s what these are like. Wow, just wow.

Hi all,
I like to hear what was your best running shoe purchases for 2020 were, mine were:
Saucony Endorphin speed: Just got mine about a week ago. Fantastic fast versatile running shoe. Cushioned, breathable upper and lovely in black.
2nd place Asics Novablast for those cushioned and fun bouncy runs, not the most stable. And a close second Reebok Symmetros - firm, great transition, stable and responsive and versatile.
Cheers
Steve
I agree with the first two. I use the Nova for LRs, Speed for anything with pace (for now), and the Skechers Max road 4+ for everyday shorter runs.
Plan to try the new Asics Hyper Speed (remake) when they come out.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
