OP, you might have written the worst take I've ever seen. It was great that he ran this race. He wanted to win a WORLD title. He's not afraid to lose.
Today's results show you why stars don't run things like this but the sport is a lot better off when the likes of Kamworor, Bekele, Cheptegei show up for World Half, World XC, etc.
This is a perfect result in my opinion for him. You seem to be implying that he should have laid low for a few weeks and then try to win some obscure road race in 7 weeks like he did after the 5k WR. That's absurd. Now he gets to take a real break . He should take a month off/easy - and then get in a couple months of base to get ready for 2021.
Yet you wanted him to recover after the 10k and race in December?
The loss will is good for him and will motivate him. Instead of thinking, "I'm the best in the world. My sh** don't stink." He's thinking. "My god, am I even the best guy in my country?"
MOTIVATION.
