Kipchoge just ran his second slowest marathon and finished 6th. IMO Kitata made a big upset in the marathon world.

Post race, it feels like Leon Spinks v. Mohammed Ai, Feb., 1978. Spinks won.
It is too early to tell if Kipchoge lost. I mean the guy just fizzled out as if he had food poisoning or sort. But you got to respect the man for not rolling up his mat but going all the way to the finish. If he got beaten in a 2:03 race in a close race, then we will agree he lost. The king will be back!

Spinks over Ali was a fixed fight.
He just posted that he was having problems with his ear since just over halfway.

Kipchoge is the goat is far as I'm concerned but I'm not buying it. The pace was way too slow before halfway. If he was fit there was no reason for him to let a massive group hang around that long.
You’re allowed a bad race. Especially when it’s one in ten. Bekele is the opposite he has one good race out of ten. Let’s remember Kip hasn’t raced for one and half years. Yeah the sub 2 thing but that wasn’t a race. It’s likely a combination of rust and age finally catching up to him. Give him a a few more races though before we criticize the goat marathoner.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
