congratulations to tirunesh dibaba who has been promoted to major in her (other non running) job as a police women, interesting lasse viren who also won a 5 and 10k double at the world level (viren 72 and 76 olympics) also had a job as a cop. it is really great the police departments in finland and ethiopia keep their police in good shape, and allow them to travel so us as fans can marvel at their ability.
Sir, your an idiot. You dont seriously think that she actually works as a policewoman?! In lots of countries they 'work' for the police, army etc. That way they get a wage but there only duties are training.

IN some countries, elite athletes are exempted from regular work in order to train and participate in major competition.

darn, i was hoping after she got done with her running or while she is still running she would get american citizenship, get a job as a policewoman and she would pull me over and i would talk her out of the ticket by volunteering to be her running partner. or if she gives me a ticket i could tell all my running friends, i got a ticket from tirunesh dibaba, that would be cool.
last time i heard that tirunesh did not compete in shifeld b/c of injury.
