Its a segment with no Marshall's or officiating so really who cares? I personally know people who recieved all sorts of support yet registered an fkt as unsupported. Whoever is the fastest, is the fastest period

Maybe Sage told him about it 3 days ago when Seth didn't even have the record?
Hah! If Canaday actually watches youtube, he would have known Seth's intentions, and that Seth at one time already held the FKT of that segment this summer, and that he was going for it again.
How nice of Canaday to show Joe the ropes. Did he actually "invite" Joe to do it, per a post above?
Reason I ask is because I don't have a Strava account, so I don't know what was actually posted.
That whole story of Joe planning to run another route but deciding last minute to run the Skyline Traverse because "somebody" challenged him sounds like total BS. Just own the fact you wanted that FKT, and rightly so, to go to the Azores.
Wouldn't call it bs. He did in fact run the segment he talked about but then continued on. I do think it was a bit of shade though snagging Seth's record when he was trying to qualify for azores. They both will get entry im pretty sure

That is dishonest.
Whoever is the fastest, is the fastest period
In two different categories. For example, a record set in an all-women race, is different from one set with male pacers.

Actually seth has never beaten Joe Gray time. This must be another attempt from the demoorans to troll. Gray ran 2:05 at pikes and also has beaten seth there every single time. Seth ran 2:09:30 for pikes ascent portion of marathon. Unless you can't count time, then you realize that's not faster than any of Grays wins at Pikes!
Actually, I just looked at the times gray ran 2:08:59 last year for the ascent while Seth ran the ascent portion in 2:09:29, so 30 seconds slower while running the full marathon, so Seth would have definitely beat joe just running the ascent
I hope Sage keeps up his vegan diet and ruins his running performance with it even further so we don't have to hear about him again.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda but never did. Gotta love those kinda people!
Sounds like Joe chickened our of a head to head this year tho. Sage as well. Also sounds like they are a bit jealous of the following growing by the day for Seth and are trying to capitalize on Seths popularity
For all the smack the demoor fan bros talk they are pretty thin skinned. If you want a fkt you better be the fastest on the block. If you think there is something wrong with gray setting this time you are either biased or have a really broken understanding of competition.
Fair enough if Joe wanted the FKT but absolutely no need for the shade and dishonesty on Strava. Lost a lot of respect for both Joe and Sage with this. Very, very poor. And I say this as somebody who finds most of Seth's videos unwatchable.

it's really been happening in the last few years, it's been a long time since Sage hasn't won a race, he even lost a local 10k race to a triathlete older than him... Sage is really suffering with Seth DeMoor and Kilian Jornet success in recent times. the guy is turning into someone very bitter
This thread exemplifies the type of simmering toxicity that draws people to LRC.
Yeah best mans wins ect but Grays humble brag was not needed. Still want Seth to give it another try.
seth has to address it in tomorrow's video. will be a big one for the let's run community.
Sage is past his peak as a runner and as a youtuber. SJD has surpassed him in both areas.
His assistance with Gray really seems like a passive puss move. Coach Sandy, time to move on. Sage has the lowest earning potential of any Cornell (lesser Ivy) graduate.
I'm not in the know when it comes to trail or ultra stuff... Are FKTs something new since Covid has shut down races, or have they been a thing people care about?
They've definitely gotten a lot more popular and competitive this year. Before that, they mostly held by beardo hobbyjoggers who gallowalked some long trail at a 16min/mile pace and could more accurately be called "fastest known time among people who have heard of this website and bothered to report it".
I think they're kinda fun if you're in an area with a lot of talented trail runners.
It was probably the capability of strava that made them a thing. Seth Demoor on his youtube channel brought them to the fore this summer, exposing them to a lot more folks. One of those FKT's he snagged from Canaday seemed pretty technical, and certainly not a run-of-the-mill hill climb.

I think I'm thinking about the Long's Peak FKT, which is the subject of this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxIKS0Chxjs&list=PLfYfIYL7lfsJVOjZjqHUcFcBHzEblCDIL&index=5It wasn't until I saw some other youtube videos on Long's Peak that I realized that one was some serious business (though I haven't done much running in the mountains).
