I’m two days in on a 23 week training plan. My goal is to run a marathon. My goal is to break 3 hours. My stretch goal is to bear my PR of 2:53:56 set 11 years ago. I know that’s not very fast on here, but I’d be happy with it at 42 years old.
In 2020, I’d say I average 2.5 runs per week for 12 miles total at 7:55 pace. I’ve hit 5 runs per week, but I’ve also gone 2 week stretches without any exercise. I’ve only run maybe a total of 5 full miles below 7 min pace, and I’m all out on those. Haven’t run a race in over 5 years.
I’m seriously motivated to lose 10-15 lbs and get back to PR weight. When I was running a lot, I rarely surpassed 50 mile weeks and I missed a lot of training runs but was pretty consistent on weekend long runs. That makes me think if I truly follow a plan, I can come pretty close, but I have a long way to go.
Thoughts? Experience returning to form after 40?
