So that makes him an ultra runner even if he's only done a few 50k's? Seems like a pretty loose application of the term.

Could be many reasons for people not wanting to race. But keep going on about how you know how everyone works. You sound like a angry jogger.
Sorry but Sage's reason was just lame. Drinking beer and eating ice cream and losing motivation. Sorry but that's just plain lame, you're paid to run.
He knew he wasn't fit enough to beat Seth and then in came the Covid excuse.
Lame.
Where did Sage claim that he was just drinking bear and eating ice cream???
Soyboy Sage would have no chance against Seth, Seth's wife feeds him well with meat etc.

His video a few days ago. Says he lost motivation to train hard during the pandemic and gained weight drinking beer and eating ice cream.
Just lame coming from a guy who loves to brag that he's a sponsored professional.
Well, if he's gained weight and hasn't really been training optimally why would he choose to race? That would be dumb. Seems like the smarter choice to not run a poor race just to please people and in fact it is very likely if he had raced and did poorly you guys would be here trolling him anyway.

He deserves to be criticized for not taking his running seriously, does he not?

how much $$$ do you guys think seth makes from youtube? i really like the guy's content. happy for him.
his wife is lowkey a little annoying but thats just me being an ahole lol
Look him up on social blade. I would think he is on the high end of the range given based on his type of content.

I suppose, given enough incentive, Seth will run "any distance, any surface". He can mix it up in ultras as well as road marathons, and even 5k's. "Ultra" typically only means longer than a marathon. But it is not unusual for off-road mountain races to sometimes be shorter than a marathon; e.g., Kendall Mountain Race.
There is a pandemic, the guy has been racing for years. Maybe just felt it was a good time to relax? Not really sure why he should be criticized for that. But ok.

I guess Hoka is fine paying him to relax instead of run? He's 34 and his years at the top are limited. Of course it is his right to waste these opportunities during his prime years "relaxing," just as it is our right to criticize him for it.

Granted, it would have been fun to watch a youtuber "Duel on Pikes Peak" in 2020, but it was not to be. People dealt with the unfortunate circumstances of the year in different ways. Maybe some decided to take a recovery year, in trying to process it all, and that is/was their prerogative, and I don't think they should be criticized for doing so, just like the ones that decided to race shouldn't either.
I know what an ultra is and a few 50k's doesn't really qualify as being an 'ultra runner' do they? IDK, seems weird. You wouldn't call an ultra guy who does a few sprint races a sprinter suddenly would you?
Mostly I just find it ironic. Calling Seth an ultra runner and comparing him to guys who run actual ultras and saying they are scared to race him yet he has yet to toe the line at any real ultras, so the same doesnt apply to him? Is he not scared to run a real ultra? But ultra guys not racing him at a non-ultra race are scared? Logic certainly escapes many people on this board.
An opportunity to run a race where no one of note is showing up to? What a slacker.

Well, it is obvious you have been triggered and are lashing out to try and demean Seth. But it will be to no avail; Seth Demoor was put into the 'Legend' category this past weekend. He buttered his bread.
Ehh, just trolling the trolls I guess. We'll see what happens if Seth ever does run a real ultra race.
Inspiring! I love his positive attitude and how open he is about his training. I was already following him on IG, but will add YouTube now.

Yeah, let's not criticize anyone for anything ever. Go Sage! Keep eating that ice cream and not racing. Maybe Ben & Jerry's will sponsor you next. Sorry but it just baffles my mind that he wouldn't do a race 2 hours from where he lives.

Of course it does.
I would call Seth a "runner" . That's what I call myself and in the last few years I have raced many distances from 1 mile to 65 miles on multiple surfaces. (sometimes in the same race)
I think Justin Bieber is the best but my buddy likes Keith Urban. Can you all help me settle the dispute?
Seth has admitted that longer ultradistances are not in his wheelhouse at this point in his life and often brings up that he dropped out of his only 100 mile race. His charity run this Spring was his longest run ever (50 miles).
He also has run very few road races as far as I know from watching him for almost exactly a year now. I think he considers himself a mountain/trail runner who would like to run a fastish road marathon once the world gets back to normal.

Hicham El Guerrouj is back baby! Runs Community Mile in Oxford
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
