I bit the bullet and just got a pair of carbon pillows :-(

Looks like the new SC Pacer revealed at The Running Event will be the spiritual successor to the 1400. Basically NB’s version of the streakfly, or a Rebel v2 with a carbon plate and a stripped down upper.
reposting from bottom of page 1 as I'm interested in hearing if those who ran in the 1400s have tried the liberate nitro
Well after trying the Hyperion Tempo early 2021 and Rebel V2 late 2021 - not a huge fan or either but what are we to do?
I'm trying Puma Liberate Nitro next. Description sounds very similar (light cushion, light shoe, similar drop, lower cost) and I'm excited. Anyone who loved the 1400s try these out?
Relatedly, NB seems to have killed the excellent Summit Unknown (Vazee Summit before) which is a light-ish trail shoe based on the 1400. For mixed East coast conditions, this was a great shoe- useful for snow too- no idea what they're thinking but if I have to go Hoka... their loss.

I liked the Summit Unknown as well (northeast runner). The Hierro V6 I've been wearing is comfortable but definitely heavier. On rougher trails, I actually like the Hierro because my feet don't feel so beat up by the rocks, but the Summit Unknown was a better shoe otherwise.
I'm still wearing, and loving, the Sonic Fuelcore (Boa) until I find something newer from New Balance that works as well for me. The SC Pacer looks really interesting. The current Rebel/Propel just seem too soft for my liking and the stack of the RC Elite scares my ankles and hips.

The Rebel V1 is more closely related to the 1400 than the V2 as it has a lower stack and firmer foam. Stock on them is just about out though... Glad i have a 2nd pair NIB. If you can find one in your size i suggest giving it a shot.

I love NB shoes mostly for their uppers which are superior in fit & comfort to most others while also being lightweight & breathable. That puma Nitro has a similar plasticy upper to what is used on the Sketchers race shoes and the Asics Sky/Edge. I own the SketcVanish and have test ran the Asics. The stiffness of those plastic upper(no stretch at all) and abrasiveness is not pleasant at all. Sure, they are they are light and able to do cool prints on them for creative colorway designs, but the tradeoff is too much IMO.
Have you ran in the Endorphin Speed? I'd also pick that over the Hyperion & Rebelv2

WOW, Thank you for breaking the news!!!!!
Looks like my wish list (from earlier in this thread) was answered. I typically wait for last years models at discount But will be first in line for these!

1400v7 wish list :
- 0.5ounces lighter by utilizing higher tech foam & upper material.
- Revlite midsole replaced with firmer version of Fuelcell foam.
- plastic midfoot shank replaced with carbon fiber extending further forward
- similar upper and slim underfoot without any silly sole flares.
Thanks for the info on the SC Pacer - I checked it out and it looks good except for the carbon fiber.
I tried the Speeds (hoping the non-carbon plate would suffice) but I didn't like them. I miss allowing the natural motion of my feet, road feel, and it's too much shoe for me.
I see the SC Pacer kept the nice pocket on the outsole for rocks just like the 1400s :-)
I have not done a direct comparison with the 1400s, but maybe the Asics Hyper Speed could be close. It's a fun, old school style racing shoe.
Although obviously discontinued, a new colorway can be bought (Dec 21) in Canada:

Arrived yesterday, the best shoes ever (my 7th pair of 1400s). Stock up :_)
L.
I own 2 pairs of Puma Liberate and 4 pairs of 1400 (a very good idea to buy 4 !). Liberate are very nice, lighter even tna 1400, but not the same feeling of contact. I prefer Liberate on road and 1400 in woods.
Size : for me, 9 for 1400 is equivalent to 8,5 for Liberate (longer).
I recently heard from a guy in the business that NB that they will have a 1400 design shoe with a carbon plate added coming out in September.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
