About a 5.8 second conversion from the NCAA altitude standards for a mile in Boulder, which would put Oliver Hoare down around 3:50 and Joe Klecker in 3:52. That suggests that they are in terrific shape and we should see that soon at sea level.

3:56 in Boulder is remarkable. I dont even believe it until I see a video.
If this is hand timed, no video, then Jorge Torres already went sub 4 ages ago in a time trial.
Don’t really see how you can claim a time trial as a record no matter what. The whole point is you have to do it in a race, that’s what makes it hard.

What defines a race or not most races these days are set up to run fast times not to race so are they time trials?

Agreed. I like watching all these people running/throwing/jumping well. But it seems they are basically setting up time trials that just happen to have a designated official there. It isn't really the same as a fan as if it was a "real" race.
It kind of makes me wonder what is the difference between what people are doing recently compared to the Sub 2 marathon. That almost could be a thread by itself.
They should create conversion tables for cheaterflys.
Oh sorry, I meant time trial as in not official. No timing system, or any type of sanction etc. Basically just a practice, same as Torres it seems.
3:58...nice........Who's coaching him?

You will have to update them every 6 months

Plus, did he use CheaterFlyes?
Just my opinion....
Perhaps at this point when it seems every major shoe company has their own version of carbon plated shoes, you can probably give "CheaterFlyes' a long overdue rest/retirement. But carry on if you must. The rest of the world is just laughing at you, not with you.
you should extend your talents to other fields. We can do away with science and just use your opinions. It will save a lot of time and effort.

Pretty pathetic attempt to cover your error. I accept mine as an honest (and harmless) mistake. I suggest that you do the same.
Hand timed with several timers. Video is coming. No cheater Flys. This was an On event, so they were running in On.

So your reading comprehension is as bad as your knowledge of runners’ nationalities? Neither of these guys (Hoare and Klecker) are British. Clear as day.
Re: refer to 'Cheaterflyes'
Thank you for your confidence in my abilities.
The bottom line here Lucy is these shoes with carbon plates are here to stay. Time to face the facts.
There will be no little asterisk behind the times in the record books. Olympic medals will be awarded to swiftest plate or no plate. Road races will not have separate categories and awards structures.
An entire generation of runners is coming of age and accepting the technological advances that have been developed.
If you and your like minded friends wish to continue living in the past and deny both progress and the reality of the world, then rest assured you will be eating a lot of dust and getting your behinds kicked on a regular basis for the forthcoming decades. And no one will feel sorry for you because your a 'purist'.
Adios loser....
?... thx for your input, many of us feel sick because of your lack of understanding.

Has this been verified by anyone legit? Klecker had a tweet nothing else. No photo. No video. Nothing. Hoare’s social media the same
Im not buying it until wevhave proof. Futhermore, no news source in Denver/Boulder has reported this. It sounds like PR. BS.
Aldo people went sub 4 in a downhill mile several years ago.

You probably still deny that Kerr (the runner I originally referenced) runs for Great Britain. Pure Moranity Personified.

That’s never anything I argued. Seriously, re-read the conversation. Slower if you need to. “Neither of these guys” very clearly refers to Klecker and Hoare to anyone with a semblance of a brain. Do you have a semblance of a brain?
“Hey look, Hoare and Klecker just ran 3:56 and 3:58 respectively !”
“Looks like Kerr will have some competition at the UK champs”
“Uhhhh these guys aren’t British you dummy”
Is English a second language for you?
You know you sound worse than him? Why do you care if an anonymous person on the internet admits to an error? I made about 10 errors yesterday. Hopefully that helps you feel better about yourself.
