That's what I used. I'm 6'3" 190 lbs. Went 2:40.

Here is some additional input on some flats...
I currently train in DS Racers and Hyper Speeds. The DS have more arch support while the Hyper Speeds feel lighter and a little softer. I actually think the Hyper Speed is one of the most underrated shoes on the market.
I recently tried the new Response Lite 4. These will be great for people that like a lightweight trainer/racer. They are not ultralite, but nicely cushioned. They do fit a little narrow.
The new adizero PR are great. 3.9 oz with a great fit in the heel. Obviously they ride very low to the ground but have a nice balance of cushion and responsiveness in such a minimal shoe.
Another vote for the Hyperspeeds. Great shoe. I am suprised these shoes don't get more pub. You can grab them pretty cheap at Holabird.
the DS racer is a true-tested flat for overpronators. That said, the support of the shoe is really rendered useless once your at 30k. For me at least.
How do the Hyperspeeds compare to the Gel Ohanas? Only .1 oz different according to Asics. Can't tell what other differences are.
Ohana - gel in heel and forefoot. Solyte mid sole
H.Speed - gel in heel only. Speva midsole
big difference in price - but you can find deals on the Ohana if you search around the web
unless you are very light and efficient, i'd suggest the Ohana for a marathon
consider the Asics Speedstar
nice trainer. fairly light, very nice cushion heel and forefoot. wide toe box and porous upper
I wore the Mayfly for a marathon last year and they were fine. I trained in Structure Triax leading up to the marathon so racing in a flat that was 1/3 the weight of my trainer made me feel fast.
The heel is higher inthe Ohana. It will be a better choice for those who are accustomed to regular trainers. While the HyperSpeed rides lower to the ground.
