Plica syndrome is also relatively difficult to diagnosis. I had it in college and I repeatedly went to the athletic trainer telling him I couldn’t really bend my knee and everytime he evaluated it he couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong and told me to ice and stretch more. Once I actually got the diagnosis from the orthopedist phonophoresis reduced the inflammation (they told me it was dissolving the vestigial tissue which I don’t think fully makes sense?) to the point that I was able to start training again without pain in a few weeks.
