i love shelby. she's counterculture for a runner. They are always so straight laced but Shelby has a more punk rock side. It shows you can be a runner and have a personality.

Drew Patel 4:14 mile, 13:51 5k.
Seth Hirsch 4:14 13:59
Joe Dragon 4:14, 13:59
Dan Soto 4:07, 13:58
Noel Rotich 4:09, 13:58
Matt Carmody 4:20, 13:56
It would appear to take about 4:15 to have a reasonable chance to break 14.
Your list includes some soft PRs. For a strong runner, 4:15 is comparable to a 9:00 2-mile, which would get them only two-thirds of the way to a 14:00 5000. HSers generally run all out miles and if you look at the all-time list for the 5000, most of them ran 4:05 or faster. An exception would be Ritz, but he never focused on the mile.
all it takes is a little good ol' fashioned EPO....

I can't get over what a free spirit she is.

Letesenbet Gidey's 44:20 15 K is more impressive than any distance woman track record and worth sub 14 and sub 29 for 5000 m and 10,000 m so I would not rule her out
I think like you here.....Gidey is a big chance of sub 14 .
With a magic coach she can come close.
A runner that can run a sub 14 at 5000m should also be able to run a 3:45 1500m with special middle distance training.
i've heard well founded rumors that sifan is currently in 4:06-4:09 mile shape
HGH jawline.
Yep -- more interesting runners who aren't afraid to talk about their goals is a good thing.
FWIW, the brojos took the quote a bit out of context for click-bait. It wasn't meant to be literal but as a part of a goal setting conversation. She doesn't want to limit herself and is going to keep chasing fast times. After hearing that, you shouldn't think that she's being unrealistic or crazy. She's getting after it.
I don't think those goals are realistic for her, especially the 1500m, but I like her attitude.
Good Luck!!
I once found a $100 bill on a run.
I won't fault Shelby, who is immensely talented, for her aspirations.
I don't follow things here all that closely, and I have no idea what idiocracy's last rant is about.
Who is Koko?
She's too modest. Beating Dibaba's "Aden-assisted" times should post no obstacle. I assume she's going to train in Ethiopia.

Congrats to her! It looks like that mentality is working.

Every runner at a world class level has the right "mentality" and if she achieves her goals, it will be because she is the most talented runner in the world in the 1500/5000. Setting possibly unrealistic goals will not allow her to outrun her natural ability.

The first half of your sentence isn’t true lol
