Alright, what’s the deal with the MAC? Are they really generating that low of a revenue?

They make most of their money from those weeknight football games on ESPN

Expect to see this more with the mid-major programs cursed with football.
Any word on which coaches getting cut? Restructure of the coaching staff?
Hartman will be gone.

As a former MAC athlete this is so sad to me. There aren't going to be any men's Cross Country/Track teams left in the MAC soon if this keeps up.
The MAC is dead. Long live the Horizion

Yep. It seems the thing to do for an aspiring student athlete who is walk on level is to find a conference where every school has xc and track to minimize the chance their program gets cut. That's not the MAC. These things used to make me angry, but now I'm just kind of numb. Obese America wants to push the narrative that football is the only real sport.
They had a male weight thrower qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships this year. No team is safe.
Do these so called Athletic Directors, or in this case Unathletic Directors, get pay cuts too? Or more likely do they get rewarded? Its real easy to do nothing AND get paid for it in these mid-major jobs.
Why do all college sports have to be revenue generators?
MAC is dead.

Those were college football games, my high schools team could beat those teams.
Cutting men’s track really baffles me. I wouldn’t like to see more sports get cut, but how can women’s track stay and men’s track go?
The Horizon is next Bro!

do you think that mid major conferences without football (ie Big East, Loyola of Chicago) without football are more protected from cuts - or are the womens programs more at risk given the lack of football

There would be public up roar if women's track got cut but not men's track...just saying.
If we only keep money sports, plenty of teams are on the chopping block. Fencing? Rodeo? Wrestling?
Maybe NCAA should only do basketball and football. Then AD's would make far less money. The leagues do the heavy lifting. They would only worry about 3 non-league football games, 11 non-league hoop games and clean jockstraps.
Why is cross country fine in high school and the first thing to go in college? (They both make about the same money.) Is regionalizing Olympic sports a possible answer?

Title IX. Football takes up a ton of scholarships and Title IX mandates that schools need to balance the number of scholarships, not number of sports.
AKA women deserve an equal opportunity (and greater opportunity in non-revenue sports) despite the fact that there are way fewer women interested in sports and they are (generally) less driven when it comes to that sport. A pretty big chunk of them are just on the team for social/scholarship reasons, especially below the D1 level.

Title 9
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
