I'm really torn by this. I think Strava is great. I use it as a log, as a way to keep up with running buddies all over the country, to look at racecourses, etc. I think they have a pretty good product & have every right to try to make some $$$ off of a population that is, generally, well off.
I hope they looked at other ways to make revenue -- ads & such. It seems to me that they could be doing a lot more with what they do have. They could have someone sponsor a specific segment in every major city. They could have a database to look at race courses by month & state. They could expand to other fitness activities -- is there a good strava type platform for weight lifting?
Buying premium has always been a back of my mind thought so I'll probably get it now. I've just never had a good reason to. It's not overly expensive. I just hope they keep pushing the tech that they have.
