They literally have the cardiovascular system of a Ferrari in a Chevy frame. They can run hard, and fast without much effort but their body is breaking apart.
Claudia Lane was the same. Look at her races/workout videos. She was destroying everyone with the worst running form in the entire field. THAT's cardiovascular talent.
German Fernandez was the same. Mary Cain was the same. Even Ritz, extremely talented, was very fragile and often injured. Lukas Verzbicas. List goes on...
Aidan has a smart coach, if he manages to keep him healthy and slowly build him up he will be a monster. Hoping the same for Brown.
Obviously you know little about high school running, and know nothing about what top D1 programs are looking for. And I know that because obviously you did not understand my post. Never did I use the words “most room for improvement”. The point in regards to colleges is that many schools will avoid reaching out to her because of her injuries and for how much training she does now. She is not at all the ideal recruit. The ideal recruit would be a lower mileage 35-45 mpw, not super high intensity, but lots of strength base workouts (fartleks, tempos, hills), and still competes at Brynn’s level. A college coach will always take the girl who has done less and still competes at a high level. Actually there are a ton of girls who have done less than her and beat her.
That is awe inspiring, thank you for posting. This young lady is destined for great things.

Fixed that for you.
Well I have coached teams to 4 state titles and have had more than 20 runners go D1 and do very well.. Check back in 6 months when she gets a scholarship to Stanford.
Actually about the exact opposite
this is the classic overtrained eating disordered high school star who can't even stay healthy in high school and will be completely out of the sport in 2 years. then in 6 years she'll run a mediocre marathon and get a couple fluff pieces written about her.

Oh great another high school coach who knows nothing about college running or dealing with an elite high school athlete. Instead I get a resume about state titles that mean nothing on a national level with an elite high school girl.
And as for Stanford, I agree that will probably be where she goes..... that is where high school elite runners go to die and end their greatness. All the elite HS runners who go there you never hear from again. Thanks for making my point! Thank God you were not my daughters high school coach!
I may not be the best coach in the country but I have developed dozens of national class athletes who went on to do great things in college and beyond. I am not sure why you are insulting me or this girl or her coach. To say that no female athlete does great things at Stanford is false. You are hating on everyone and every program. Why not try to be positive?
Fact is this is a pretty reckless workout. There are athletes who are several orders of magnitude greater than Brown who would do similar workouts. This is overtraining.
Yes it is but there is not another high school girl who could complete this workout. She is in 15:30 shape.
Who gives a flying fudge if no other high schooler can do a workout that isn't going to be an actual benefit to them. Also the fact that apparently she was breaking 100miles in freshman year is frankly terrifying and serves no purpose. As a coach, how do you let that happen?
I know people who are literally world finalists in the 5000 who do comparable workouts/rests but with PBs over a minute ahead of her. Either the loop is well short, in which case this kind of story is building unfair pressure and hype, or this is not a smart/workout for a kid to be running. Either way, just seems reckless.

There are some really stupid people who post here especially when it comes to female high school runners. Talking about poor training and coaches not knowing anything yet this girl runs 4 mile repeats faster than most high school girls will ever run 1 all out mile. The reason most college coaches won't try to recruit her is because there is NO chance she will go to their school. Probably only an handful of colleges on her radar.
Looks to me like she may be close to 9:40 shape for 2 miles. At least the chance of Salazar training her is pretty slim.

Every couple of years there is a new American high school phenom hailed as the next great one. Comparing the below times 800m/1500/:
a) 17 years old - 1:59/4:04/15:35 (5000m)
b) 17 y/o - 2:03/4:07/9:23 (3000m)
c) 17 y/o - 2:08/4:31/9:56 (3000m at 18 y/o)
d) 17 y/o - 2:17/ 4:38 (at 18)/ 15:53 (5000m at 20)
e) 17 y/o - 2:10/4:22
f) 20 y/o - 4:32 (1500), 16:15 (5000m)
g) 17 y/o - 2:07/4:19
In 2019/2020, those women's best marks (all 22/3 or older):
a) 4:42 mile indoor, 9:07 indoor
b) 2:02 800m, 4:04 1500m, 15:21 5000m
c) 1:59 800m, 3:54 1500m, 15:15 5000m (though with 14:36 the year prior)
d) 1:58 800m, 3:55 1500m, 14:52 5000m indoor
e) 2:00 800m indoor, 3:56 1500m, 14:44 5000m
f) 3:58 1500m, 14:58 5000m indoor
g) 3:59 1500m, 8:20 3000m, 14:26 5000m.
That's Mary Cain and Alexa Efraimson at 17 vs Houlihan, Laura Muir, Gabriela DeBues-Stafford, Jenny Simpson, and Konstanze Klosterhalfen, the 5 non-African born women who broke 4min in the 1500m last season. At 17, the latter group would have been crushed by any number of American phenoms, but just look at the all time list of high schoolers to see tons of names a) burnt out or b) never hit the same levels of success.
Fact is women develop differently and generally need their workload cautiously managed. Who knows, maybe Brynn Brown will prove me wrong and be a female Jakob Ingerbritsen, and to be clear I'm not hating. As someone who has worked with many high school age young women in multiple sports, seeing this kind of intensity in training, history of high mileage and bone injuries already, I'm just really concerned.
Why not show off this workout now?
Track was cancelled, maybe you didn't notice. Fall XC won't go, we'll be neck-deep in the second wave by then. Brown has that HS girl window open right now, and even she knows it's about to close.
This is the only play.
Eastwood’s average at state for the top 5 was 15:19 with a 30 second spread.

Really?!?!?!
Tuohy, Starliper, Dudek, Hart, Whittaker, Thorvaldson, Ewert, should I go on?????
But their coaches wouldn’t be dumb enough to let them do this useless workout since it was paced out so poorly.

Would they let them run a 5000m race or TT? That's essentially what this workout was. All of those girls you listed raced XC.

For what purpose??????
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
