Anyone know Ian Butler's story? Tilastopaja has a half marathon pb for him of 65:22...he's about to break that in the first half of this marathon. Western State grad, that's about all I know of him.
Was in Hudson Elite for a while (with Vaughn) and now trains with McCandless under Steve Jones in Boulder Harriers. Won BolderBoulder citizens race one year. Thought he ran in ATL but not sure at all. Blue collar type, college grad despite a learning disability, good young guy to root for.

Kellyn Taylor falling off. bit early...only halfway
Not surprised. I respect her ambition and big goals but no way was she going to run the AR.

I just can't get excited about a 2:09.
Minutes of the US record, minutes off what it takes to even be competivie in the world stage. Its like watching one of those Bowerman perfectly paced time trials on the track but they all run 13:20 instead.
Right. They were running that in the 1960's with stone age technology.
Bruce and Bates seem to be coming back up to Damato

The stat line shows 75% humidity. Rojo goes home divastated.
,Dark sky is showing a dew point of 26. That’s perfect if true. Is it possible to have a dew point below 32? Regardless, Humidity doesn’t matter if it’s that cold.
Someone said that I’d love the weather. It’s pretty darn good. Tiny bit cold at the start but you kind of have to have that in Arizona this time of year. They start a little slow which is much better than too fast. Likely feeling good now.
Warning, I am a bit tired and cranky as I was up to 2-3am several days this week shipping out tshirts. Called john up this morning and quipped, “You need me to help you cover the equivalent of this men’s AAA baseball game right? See which guy is most likely to finish 30th in Valencia or Tokyo?”
Pumped to see American record attempt for women. Although I don’t know if I should root for it or not. I mean Sara’s story is SO SO incredible. Like it doesnt’ almost make any logical sense. It’s just amazing and inspiring. But how do you explain it? If it wasn’t a known quantity like Sara Hall, you’d say drugs which I’d be my life se’s not on without hesitating. Even if we say she simply was in the wrong event all these years , how do you explain that in her first 7 marathons up through the end of 2017, she never broke 2:27.
Now sh’es running 20 seconds per mile faster than that?
Is she simply a super responder to the shoes? But does that explain 20 seconds a mile? 8 minutes is 5% of 2:27
.
Temp is heating up quickly and dew point doesn’t keep pace. The difference between temp and dewpoint will grow and grow as the race progresses.

Yeah - they had it right on the LRC podcast regarding her mindset. No way she was it’s gonna let Sara go. Can’t fault that.
Malcolm Gladwell is having a week--first an awesome LRC podcast interview, now pacing the Men's MP race and looking great through 25k!!
At 25k, 11 guys still together with Linkletter now 2 seconds back. Still there, but maybe the first signs of trouble for him.

Great thanks a lot.
What is Mickow's story?
Any chance Frank Lara stays in it? He’s looking relaxed up there pacing

That’s the cranky attitude I had when I woke up with no sleep.
Now I’m just kind of amazed. Who the hell are half these guys? How many people in the world tell me without the help of google who all of the 13 guys in the lead pack are as I hinted at in this tweet I just put out.

Anyone have more info on: C. Mickow, M. Iacofano, E. Roudolff?
Not a fan of the timing company
