While I am also a little skeptical, you cannot compare the men's events to the women's steeple. Women's steeple is way newer.

Wow - Frerichs! I worried that it might take a long time to back up her performance from the WC, but she took 2nd in one of the best women's steeple fields ever!
I would say it's a bit premature to say the crown has been passed (remember Rupp outkicking Lagat in 2012). I think Courtney needs to beat her in a championship race, or establish a winning streak, but we definitely can say this rivalry will be great to watch in the years ahead.
