Imagine if Kipyegon or Gidey was in this race, I think sub 14 would have definitely gone down. So impressive watching the grit that Tsegay displayed though, well deserved WR.

Such a shame Birke Haylom was DNF, her split of 8:26.03 at 3k would be a new WU20 record. Crazy she was able to ran that fast after yesterdays 1500.

Very relatable 5k for us mere hobbyjoggers - that 3rd and 4th kilometre are always the toughest but you always find something for the 5th!

Still, imagine Jakob's fiancée came on to the track and started posing for pictures with him after a victory, even if Tsegay's husband does coach her, it's just not his time. Let her have her moment. It's like those guys who propose to their partners on the finish line right after they've just won a marathon or whatever. Can't let their wives shine without them.
