Thanks to my good friend Insomnia, I’ve already been up since 1:00 am in anticipation of today’s big race in the Sunshine State. Expecting some big rain in Cali tomorrow, although I’d rather be watching the Trials ‘Thon live. Couldn’t find a cheap flight out for the race. My predictions are in and I’ll be rooting and wishing all runners to deliver their best performances later this morning. I’d offer some last minute advice since I have done quite a bit of running in Florida including a ‘Thon, although this was many years ago. I do expect some epic blowups because of the heat. Haven’t seen any posts by Smoove lately, but I recall he was pretty accomplished and hailed from Orlando.Expect Great Things!!!

A question: since USATF won't let anyone chase the Olympic standard after the end of the Trials, can Korir run a half marathon before May and try to get enough points to get in on rankings? And what races would he want to go to get a fast time and enough bonus points to go to Paris on ranking?
Also, does he leapfrog Fauble on the world rankings list based on what he ran today plus bonus points? I thought someone mentioned that he did.

It's my understanding that the US just needs someone within the rankings. As long as the US has someone, anyone, in the rankings, Korir can go.

There's a local, to me, high school that used to have a guy coaching distance who knew absolutely nothing about running.
All these talented runners would go to D3 and improve amazingly.

With the guys they are normally running 25 mpw and doing 4:30 miles. And the skip running in the summer and probably a season to play some other sport. But 5:40 seems slow even for something like that.

i always wonder how much talent never really gets a chance to develop.

Nobody has answered my question of what caused the blood? What kind of announcers interview the winner of a marathon covered in blood and don't think to ask "why are you covered in blood?" It's not like that is even remotely normal.

I have had that happen. It was caused by chafing from a running bra. Had not happened in training but racing the marathon it did. Finished with blood all over my singlet in that exact location.

Anyone out there who works for Track Shack can you anonymously share the ChronoTrack event ID so we can get old-school flat results instead of the asinine RTRT stuff?

It's usually a 5 digit number for the legacy system. TIA

I cannot believe even USATF for the official trials does not post a flat PDF on their website, instead linking RTRT

Maybe it's technically not "official" yet until drug testing passes so they aren't posting but I am betting it is just sheer lazy quiet-quiting "f*ck it"

This is why our sport continues to be a joke, no flat PDF or HTML list for an Olympic Trial
