It's not gonna happen, because she'll run in lane 2 next time as well, and the time after that, and the time after that, and so on.

Athing Mu said a few days ago that her coach HAS sat her down and explained to her that she should run next to the rail because it's a shorter distance but she said that she still insists on running a longer distance just because she feels like it. It's stunning that someone is that stubborn!

That’s what I thought. It’s a well known tactic to sit just on the leader’s shoulder in the 800m then go past in the last 100m. I used to do it. Never occurred to me I was running extra meters it was a good tactic to let them pace and get in the slip stream.

Plenty of runners do this and there’s no wittering on about how they could have knocked seconds off their time.
