I know letsrun is filled with so much vitriol but can I say something that hurts but is true-
How is Sara Hall so good at the marathon and never delivers when it actually matters? Time and time again man
2:26 at 41 in those conditions is a pretty incredible performance.
At the trials top 3 is the only incredible performance.
Again not just hating to hate- you have a fantastic runner with medals at marathon majors and have held american records and time and time again they miss the olympic team.
If true ASICS should drop Young immediately and get their money back. Well, don't give Young any Trials bonuses and wait until after the Olympics before firing him.
Yeah that sure makes sense, dummy.
Young was just being gracious to let Mantz take it.
Sometimes the most excited finisher, and therefore the most fun to watch, is the surprise third. Was certainly true today. Many congrats to all 6 qualifiers!

American records? She held the HM record for a couple months
Obviously O'Keefe deserves immense props but also have to give a shout out to McClain for 4th. Had never heard of her and just looked up her PRs. Had a big PR for 2:29 foe her entry into trials and then just dropped another 4 min on the big stage. Based on her track PRs didn't expect that, so clearly the marathon is her niche. Bravo to her and O'Keefe!
Did O'Keeffe really run a 6:30 final mile? If so, that must have been pure pain
There is definitely something wrong about the splits shown for O'Keeffe and Sisson mile 26. At 24 they have O'Keeffe ahead by 39 seconds. At 25 they have O'Keeffe ahead by 40 seconds. At 26 they have Sisson ahead by 34 seconds. And then at 26.2 they have O'Keeffe ahead by 31 seconds. These splits are from the official race tracker site.
I think for several of those athletes, they're showing the actual 26-mile split (Sisson), while for others, it's the 26.2-mile split (O'Keeffe). Best guess.
Certainly! Love the idea of prove yourself worthy today. Hopefully, all who showed face will get in and have a healthy and happy training period to be able to toe the starting line. Ive been around qualifiers and 4ths, 5ths at the track trials post race meeting areas. VERY emotional time for all when theyve had some time for the final results to sink in. The journey, the taking part, the giving your best effort....only they know what is going on in their heads and reality is often different than from the observers afar.
Negative. Tonn Doesn't sound familiar. I'm sure I've seen her name in results, though. But just reviewed splits, she wasn't even in contention at mile 20. She had the most gutsy finish. I'm super impressed.
