Galen Rupp finished 16th. Glad he finished even on a tough day for him
Second best long distance (10k+) runner in American history after Shorter. A legend. Sad he won’t be there but I am happy he has hung tough through it all the last few years.
Agreement to split if they (effectively) tie? No secret who was winning that race
Can’t really split as the person who wins pays taxes on that money while the person who gets the money as a gift would not. I’d rather be the person who was given half the difference - tax free money.
That said, they could have agreed to give the difference to the church, but they at still gives he gifter a tax deduction.

Apparently I'm one of the few people that doesn't have a strong opinion on Rupp, but I'm always happy to see people finish when it's not their day rather than drop. And if that's it for a career for him, congrats to him.
You don’t show the women’s race for 5 mins with interviews and then go to commercial. The crappy running coverage continues
It's why the International Feed for the Olympics is the only way to watch. No commercials. In track and field, they show field events non-stop in between the track events.
He literally just gave an interview with perfectly fine English, and the United States doesn't even have an official language.
Lenny Korir is the man. Imagine wanting to give yourself a better life to the point you serve in your new country's military proudly and still getting dogged by people. Proud of all 3 of our men who will represent the US in Paris.
Great post. I hope we unlock that 3rd spot he is more American than the folks demeaning him on here. Running in a US Army singlet for chrissakes.

I hate to think about him reading these awful comments, but unfortunately he is probably used to it.
So yeah with Rotich changing Nationality in Fall of 2023 a few months back how is anyone expecting everyone to cheer for her if she has not even been American for a little bit. Like yeah.
It goes both ways, there are lots of US born athletes who for whatever reason are able to compete at the Olympics for other countries. About half of the last softball team for Mexico at the Olympics were born in the US, same for their women's soccer team.
True, Amando Duplantis....
Im old school though. Dude commits to our military, would take a bullet and probably cares more about USA than a lot of people born here, finishes 4th, Army supports him 4 more years, he actually shows up on raceday and takes 3rd. I say hes earned it. Meanwhile, people keep piling across the border, beating up cops etc...
With this performance Korir earned 1161 results points plus 30 placing points for a total of 1191 performance points. Averaging with his next highest performance he now has 1186 point putting him at 68th place in the Road to Paris list, two places above Fauble.
Anyone know what happened to d’amato? Just got on my lunch break at work so I haven’t been keeping up with the marathon until now
As the late great Mac MIller once said:
"You can love it, you can leave it They say you're nothing without it What if I don't need it? There's something about it That just freaks me out get a little sentimental when I'm off the *juice*"
