Ventolin's "analysis" is in the realm of pure fantasy more often than not. Need I say anything more than 1:39/3:24?

Ventolin gives athletes a big range of what they can do, Rupp for example he will say something like 12:40 to 12:55. So then if he runs 12:42, he will say he predicted it.

It sounds to me like conditions are gonna be far from optimal.

72 degrees, super-humid, a little breezy, maybe some rain, and intermittent storms doesn't really sound too conducive to running records.

If the leaders still want to shoot for a 12:50 pace, I'd think it may turn out that no one's able to hold it, and a bunch of guys die pretty badly, which'll be a major let-down.

If it turns out conditions are a little better (a bit cooler, and rain and wind are not a factor), and they DO feel like it's realistic to push that extreme pace, then I'm wondering what the heck True does.

Galen knows, in ideal conditions, he's capable of going at 12:50-12:55 and having a decent shot to hold it, but True does NOT realistically expect that he's ready to hold quite that pace.

So what does he do?

Go with it anyway, and ride that train as long as he can, and back off at some point and see what happens?

Or ignore the lead pack, and go a second slower (62-63, instead of the near-insane 61-62 these guys are talking about), even if that means running by himself?

He probably should be talking with a bunch of the other guys, and working out some cooperation.

I'm sure not everyone in that group is ready for 12:50.

I'd say going with the big boys at 12:50 pace is courting disaster, and pretty likely to lead to a major meltdown.

He's obviously a smart guy. I assume he's thought this through.

I say Rupp has a 20% chance of breaking 1255, a 5% chance of the AR and no chance of sub 1250.

People here seriously consider him pulling out a 9 second pr off of 1258? That is just not possible.
