Actually, you're wrong. HGH does! Lagat is on PED's and has been for a long time. This is no secret in the elite T & F world. Very similar to Lace.

Take all the "expert" advice on letsrun....and do exactly the opposite:

1. A coach that fits the program to the athlete, rather than the other way around, just like Clyde Hart with Michael Johnson.

2. Doubles only one day a week.

3. 50-60 mpw (and Dr. Li understands that Lagat CANNOT handle much mileage).

4. Move up in distance by increasing...the intervals.

5. Everything fast.

6. EPO microdosing.

Ok, coach d, I have a few questions.

2. Doubles only one day a week, and only 60mpw sounds like very little training. Granted, he may do long training sessions with lots of drills etc, I have no idea.

But, why is it that some runners train as little as this? There is no way you could get away with something like that in most other endurance sports.

If the argument is "they cant handle more workouts/miles without getting injured, then why not swim/bike/aquajogg? In other sports you see the athletes from a (fairly) young age being quite serious, training a lot. In running the common reply is that athletes, especially younger than 20/older than 30 can't handle a lot of miles. But if other endurance athletes can handle bigger training loads, why wouldn't runners be able to cross-train and train more?

I'd love to get an answer to this.

50-60 is an understatement, there have been rumors he's gone 70-80, even higher when he ran the half-marathon. And it's very high intensity. Instead of 12 miles slow he'll go 8 miles fast, which is probably harder the end but on the training log it looks like less MPW.

Even so 50-60 is not that low when there's lots of intensity. David Torrence only does about 60, with lots of intensity, even 45 during racing season, and can still range up to 5K. Maybe more now, that was 2011.

I think you'll find there's no evidence that HGH actually does this. As long as you're saying "very similar to Lance", you should be looking at testosterone, EPO, and blood transfusions first and foremost, not some unproven drug that impairs endurance.

It's likely dope. NO ONE except dopers keep running that fast at such an advanced age.

foster was a great masters runner who came into the sport late and avoided the accumulative injuries we all collect, he hung on 5 minute pace for a marathon on a perfect day, we have all had these races. he did his on a bigggg stage.

i trained with both lopes in boulder, and he was simply an animal, and he was clean; and eammon, who was the quickest distance runner i have ever seen, and was clean.

lagat has taken a long term approach to his career, which is different, and that is admirable, but you just don't stay fast, or flexible or able to stay healthy (musculoskeletally or systemically) year after year without some kind of chemical assistance, i just don't believe it.

i want to believe it, but its too fishy.
