You sit here and take shots at Rupp for wearing a Nike Sportswear Destroyer Jacket and retro Jordan X's and lament that he needs to grow up and dress like an adult. I'm sorry, would you prefer Docker Chinos, Columbia Titanium jacket and Mizuno Wave Riders??? I'm happy you appointed yourself Lets Run's Chief Arbiter of Cool but your designation really should be revoked.

Rupp wasn't dressed with amazing style or anything but the way people were talking on here it sounded like he was wearing sweatpants and a wifebeater to the conference. People are ridiculous, he's dressed ok. I don't like his outfit but wearing huge Jordans with jeans and clothes that are too large is in style.

About the DNF then workout, that's really silly. I see the point of it, because he doesn't want to waste the race day, but damn he looks stupid. Like why couldn't he finish the race if he could then do the workout? And Rupp has looked stupid most of his career, but hey, he's been successful and nobody can take that away from him.

DNF = Not Successful

My guess is Rupp didn't necessarily think he'd be doing a workout when he dropped. He was being cautious and when they decided he was ok they went ahead with his post-race workout plan.

Regarding Rupp's clothes, I wonder if the critics feel the same way about Jager or is he just cool. (Not knocking Jager, but he certainly doesn't dress any better.)

Rupp became the anti-Pre due to all of Rupp's DNFs. A silver medal in the slowest finals time in many, many years does not erase Rupp's DNFs.

If you look at Rupp's body composition, you realize that he is very SCRAWNY looking. This makes him a (fuel efficient but) FRAIL 3 cylinder engine (like a French car).

Compared with that, Rich Froning is more like the Forn F150 truck. Big, powerful, goes on forever. Froning would not have DNF:

I get what you're saying. I still don't like it though. But in a way I understand it. Kinda like if you warm up for a workout and your foot hurts you're gonna stop running. Then you go to the trainer and he says you're ok to workout then of course you're going to workout. Doing that in a race situation just makes you LOOK like a wuss, since you couldn't finish the race but you can do the workout that's no pressure. But then again we are talking about the guy who will wear a pollen mask so other people's judgements went out the window a long time ago there.

And the girls love Jager's hair and his style. For some weird reason. I'm not attracted to guys with long hair.

I meant his general career has been successful. You can't deny that. Just because he's not a super world beater doesn't mean he hasn't had a great career. I don't love Rupp but the silver medal and multiple national records/titles has to mean something. Still doesn't mean he should be blindly worshipped. No pro should be blindly worshipped.

Wait a sec coach. YOU were the one praising the wisdom of the hard post-race workout just a few weeks ago. Now you are saying it could have led to an "overuse injury" ?? Agreed. On the other hand, at least this race (1/2 a race) took nothing out of him. So some sort of workout on top of it is not too much. But with the injury, why not wait a day and see how you feel?? If it feels completely fine and is 99% checked out as ok by the trainers/doctors, then come back the next day and do the workout.

Let's see how this all pans out for Rupp this year. A small niggling injury is sometimes the start of big problems (leading to a slightly bigger injury, then favoring it and another compensatory injury, then loss of training, then loss of confidence, etc, etc. Look at Sol. One injury and he is a shell of his former self. So many great runners with so much potential have been felled by injury. Not something to mess around with).

cuboid syndrome. Unless he twisted his ankle during the race, this is a sign of repetitive strain injury.

Last night Salazar was quoted as saying it was a soft tissue injury and he was fine and could do intervals.

So, what we are left is a strange cuboid syndrome or soft tissue.

What is it?

Answer is probably neither.

rupp looked spooked warming up.

he looked awful from the start, incredibly nervous.

when he moved out and started to go and got bumped he looked scared.

(willis was gone, rupp would have had to very deep to get to him. . .)

when he decided his foot hurt he looked immature, throwing his hands up to the crowd in general.

when he did the workout later he seemed apologetic.

these two are hard to figure, salazar and rupp.

at times he seems like an over protective father making excuses for his kid.

when you are in great shape everything seems possible. . .

i am not sure what to make of him; a kid who can challenge for a world championship, but dresses like the punk he wished he could have been in h.s if he weren't sleeping n an altitude tent.

Anybody think Rupp is arrogant? He always has the satisfied smirk on his face while he's dressed like a High Schooler and he's kind of a jerk to the media- for example, he walked out of his post-race interview after less than a minute.

-be more grateful to the general public (media, fans). Look at Manzano
