I don't see what the big deal is. The shoes / training / wave light in my opinion are worth up to 3 seconds in a 1500 and 10 seconds in a 5k. So the ON guys ran equivalent to 3:32 in the old world, which is not outlandish. Plus it's not like they are winning these races...

I agree with that. If Jim Ryun was running 3:34 at altitude in the 1968 OG, there is no reason to believe these guys can't run 3:30 under perfect conditions with pacing, nutrition, spikes, mondo tracks, great coaching, double-thresholds, high mileage, wave-lights, etc.
I'd guess Yared is on something making him go fast and there was rumor someone missed two tests. Anyone missing two tests is 99% guilty of a drug infraction. No excuse to miss anybof you're clean but it's a gift of a loophole to use if you're potentially going to test positive.
yeah yk, theres doping in all types of sports. I'm still against EPO not rlly cause it gives people an advantage but more of the consequences. Many athletes have had their lives cut short in their late 20s/mid 30s due to years of PED abuse. In regards of the benefits to performance, like you said, its entertainment. These athletes are pushing themselves to the limit and some probably with drugs. I just don't want to see any of my fave athletes die because of it
The reality is if you want to have a very good track club - just sign the men's NCAA 1500 champs. The OAC signed 2018 and 2019 NCAA champs in the 1500 and the OP is going ga-ga that they are pretty darn good. Do you realize that the two previous 1500 NCAA champs are Olympic medallists in Murphy and Kerr.
Should I start a thread saying the OAC 1500 guys are underachieving?
This is a good point. Plus, Garcia Romo was the indoor mile champ and second behind Waskom in slow, tactical race at NCAAs outdoors in 2022 despite being the heavy favorite. All of these guys are supremely talented, so if anybody was going to run 3:29, why not them?
Joe Klecker also had multiple top 3 finishes at NCAAs including a second place finish in cross country, and now he’s a 12:54 guy.
Just so I know where we stand, can you guys correct this list for me?
Santa Monica Track Club - dopers
Athletic West (Salazar) - dopers
NOP (Salazar) - dopers
Bowerman Track Club (Shelby) - Burrito eaters
OAC (Ritz = ExSalasar) - dopers
So can you remind me who Letsrun does like and support? The Brooks Beasts? Tinman? Aren't those just running clubs?
Beats? Irrelevant. Tinman? You mean Tinmom?
We HATE them all.
It's fun to teaer apart all of them. The relaity we realize as track fans that if you gave us that type of talent, we could do pretty well with it ourselves.
Nailed it. When will everyone wake up to how obvious it is? Dopers.
Honestly? At this point? Who cares. I’ll say it. I don’t care. I don’t. Let ‘em rip. I’m having fun watching this. This is fun. I am entertained. Are you not entertained?
I wouldn’t necessarily say *entertained*. But it is good for business!
