She didn't "pick" this time. If you knew her backstory, you'd know that she's gone through a lot of life circumstances on her journey to where she's at now.

In fairness, the men's finish involved an actual race because it was a lot closer. Hence a lot more drama. The only question with the women was whether Hall would get the AR. Their placements were locked in for the last few miles. But agreed that it would have improved things if someone had done the math on-air to let us know what pace she needed to break the record.

Nick Willis must be thinking this marathon thing isn't that hard.

I love how no matter how old and experienced you get, when you line up in order with 9 other men for a photo, you always feel like / look like a high school freshman who just finished their first invitational. You’ve got the guy with a smile stuck on his face, Fauble who doesn’t realize he should take his sunglasses off, Droddy making jokes to the guy next to him while they figure out what camera to look at. So adorable.

Wait...you expect me to pay good money for coverage of a marathon, and still have to take out a f**king calculator to do the splits, paces, and estimated finish myself?

Take out a calculator? I guess I forget that some people really can’t divide by 4 to get a 10k time and then know instantly from the 10k time what the pace is. I knew her pace within 3-5 seconds of seeing the split. I kind of see your point though as I had to use my phone to project the finish time.

How is no one talking about Ian Butler, 2:09:45 with a 65:33 HM best coming in!

From a global standpoint, sub-elite at best. I can conclude that the best US marathoners..... don't run marathons.

Willis definitely didn't run the whole think. He was pacing the women. Use your brain: no way he dropped a 1:01 for the second half of the race!
